Ever since I was young, I’ve loved animals. I was only a little girl when my
parents first bought me my first puppy. She was a Labrador retriever and the cutest little
ball of fur I’d ever seen. I fell in love instantly and since then, my love for animals and
I read something online once that talked about the benefits of living with a pet.
What they can do to boost our overall health and it seems true. With my first dog, I was
encouraged to go outside more and play with her when I could’ve been inside playing
video games or watching television. It was a positive way for me to get my exercise since
it didn’t require a lot of strenuous activity. However, there was a negative side to owning
her as well. Apparently, my mom became allergic to her saliva and she would itch
whenever the dog licked her. This just shows that owning a pet can affect your health in
many ways.
This topic makes me feel better about owning a pet because while does take a lot
of work to own one, there are many hidden health benefits that come with it. I also feel
that by owning a pet, you can see for yourself how it affects both your life and your
health.
Before doing any research, I think that pet’s do affect both our lives as well as our health.
Pets can make us happier people as well as healthier people. They can make us smile,

laugh, cry. They can also help us get our exercise on a daily basis, and can make us feel
I believe that living with a pet can help brighten anyone’s day just by being themselves.
Pets can be a mood changer. When we see someone walking their dog outside, some of
us feel happier while others have this urgent need to pet it, which also makes them feel
happier.
This is a topic I know a lot about already. Because I owned a pet before and am currently
a pet owner right now, I know that owning a pet does come with a ton of health benefits.
These benefits will help your overall health and life. When I walk my dog or even take
him outside to do his business, I’m getting exercise. It’s a mood booster too when I play
with him because he loves to fetch his toys just so I can keep playing with him.
I still need to know more about this topic because there could be ways that pets
can affect our health that I don’t even know about. I am hoping to learn more ways that
pets can affect our health both positively as well as negatively. I’m also hoping to learn
some things I can do with my pet that will help boost my health. The answers to these
questions will lie both online and in nonfiction how to books about pets.
