Baldo: Father! Father, dinner is almost ready.
(no answer)
Baldo: Father the food is being prepared, we are just

(Everyone is on the dining table and Leon stands up
respectfully to “brag” and introduce his wife.)
Leon: Now that we are all here, I want to formally introduce
to you my wife. Mother, Father, Aurelia and Baldo, this is
my beautiful wife Maria.
Maria: (smiles) It’s nice to finally meet you all. Noel had

Mother: Noel? Who’s Noel?

Leon: We are sorry for skipping tradition but I want to

Aurelia: If everyone is finished with their food, I will now
start to clean the dishes excuse me.
(the boys leave and ask permission to do something. Leon,
before leaving say good bye to Maria in a sweet way. )
(mother will start cleaning the table but Maria tries to stop
her)
Maria: No mother. Let me do it.

[CURTAINS UP, new background- manila]
Scene 3 (Maria and her friend is talking while Leon will
pass by them alone without noticing them BUT STAYS ON
THE EDGE OF THE STAGE.)
Friend: You know Maria, I’ve heard that the guy who just
pass by is a son of a “haciendero in the north”, they are
said to own almost half of a province and that they have a
lot of properties.
Maria: hmmm that sounds interesting, you know this time

Scene 4: Maria is talking to her friend and waits for Leon to
pass by, when they will see him, Maria’s friend started
yelling at her.

Maria: I am not doing anything to you(act innocent )
Friend: I don’t care. Bitch! (pushes Maria)
