Text Based Designs in 5 Minutes

Now let's make you a designer!

For this tutorial we're going to use GIMP (it's 100% free). You can download it from here:
https://www.gimp.org/downloads/

You can use Photoshop ($320/year) or a designer (~$600 month or $7,200/year) but you can
save the money for now and do it yourself. It's super easy!

Let's start, shall we?

Step 1:

Open GIMP. Go to File > New

You will have to set the Width to 4500 and Height to 5400. Also select Fill with: Transparency.
This is the format Amazon needs.
Step 2:

From the Toolbox select the Text Tool (the one with the letter A)

Step 3:

Now click on the canvas and move the mouse. You'll see a rectangle creating. That will be the
area where the text will be placed. You can move and adjust it later.
Step 4:

Now increase the font size (I've increased it to 620), otherwise you won't be able to see any text
(since the default 18 size is too small for our big canvas). Start typing something!

You can select the text like in any text editor and apply modifications (font, size, color). You
have this section in the Toolbar:

Note: The modifications made here only apply to the portions of text that are selected.

You can arrange your text to be centered, left or right aligned in the Justify options. You can
change the color and most importantly the fonts.

For changing the fonts click on that Text Aa button.

Exercise: Try creating the same design as I did below. Experiment with more fonts and
colors.

Great Job!

Step 5:

Now we need to save the file to send it to Amazon.

File > Export As > Name your file and select the destination. Also select PNG image for the file
format if it's not selected by default. Congratulations on your first export.

This is how it looks when you upload it to Amazon. Not bad for your first design!
For more advanced effects you can find a ton of tutorials on youtube. But with good researched
ideas you don't really need fancy stuff. But if you have an idea you'll definitely find a tutorial on
youtube on how to do it and I encourage you to experiment.

Congratulations, now you're a beginner graphical designer !
