INFORMATIVE SPEECH ON HOW TO STOP SMOKING

CHLOE GWYNETH C. ASUNCION

11-FLEMING

Many people die everyday because of many reasons some natural, some accidental

but some deaths are because of addictions which are self-induced a very well- known

example is being addicted to smoking , many people smoke and some start smoking

at a young age of 15, smoking can lead to many diseases and can also harm to the

surrounding and those around the smoker, so why do people keep on smoking even if

they know the consequences? And why don’t we just shut down companies that

manufacture cigarettes? Surely that would make things easier.

No matter where you go you can always see a person or a group of friends smoking

and if you ask them why they smoke, usually the common answer given is because

they’re addicted to smoking and that’s because tobacco or cigarettes contains nicotine

which is highly addictive. Like heroin or other addictive drugs the body and mind

quickly become so used to the nicotine in cigarettes that a person needs to have it just

to feel normal. Why do people start to smoke? People start to smoke for a variety of

reasons some smoke because of their friends, some do it because it relives their

stress, and some because of their surrounding but the thing is smoking can disguise

itself as a friend, someone you can relax with, someone who consoles you when

times are rough but....how many real friends eventually turn around and stab you in

the back?.
If a person stopped smoking there are many health benefits he could get within 20

minutes of stopping blood pressure and pulse is lowered, within 2 weeks and 3

months risks of heart attack decreases and lungs function better, In conclusion I hope

you managed to learn something from what I just said , and if you’re still going to

continue smoking think about how much it effects not only you and our surrounding

but most importantly the people you love.
