Role of Scientific Committee Members

SC members are selected for a period of 3 years. There are 3 SC members who are chosen
from the fields of Clinical Neuroscience, Cognitive Neuroscience and Rehabilitation. The
Chair of the Scientic Committee is the leader and co-ordinator of the activities of the SC and
the SC members are expected to work closely with the Chair. SC members have to be
members of the EACD and must attend the EACD Annual Conferences during their tenure at
their own cost.

Aims:

1. To ensure a rigorous process to ensure that any scientific material published or presented
under the auspices of the EACD has the appropriate level of scientific merit .

2. To support local organisers in producing a programme which is original, has excellent


scientific credential and has the right mix of original research and evidence based
instructional practice.

The role of designated of SC members are

1. Be part of the Scientific Committee of EACD Annual Meetings and help the Chair of the
Scientific Committee and local organisers in

 agreeing the theme of the meeting


 the structure of the meeting including balancing the proportion of original research
(free papers and posters) with instructional sessions
 help in suggesting/procuring high calibre speakers
 ensure a good ratio of local and international speakers

2. Help in selection of abstracts for free papers and posters which are to be accepted.

3. Help in judging poster submissions and selection of best poster

4. Help in selection of the best original research submissions for publication by Mac Keith
Press

5. Ensure a good balance of multi-disciplinary material in the annual conference scientific


programme

6. Support the Chair of the Scientific Committee with any tasks and/or decisions as
requested
