New Year Resolutions:

*Submissions:

- We need to establish a list of columns that we will continue to

publish in every issue.
- Mike and Ralph could write an article about how the Biohazards
do after every game.
- Amalia could write a column on “Being Green”.
- Somebody could interview Jackie Vogel about the new
Biology/Computers joint major.
- Dagan will continue with movie reviews.
- Somebody could interview grad students; Renee will interview a
med student.
- Somebody could write a column “What to do with your Bio
degree.”
- This week, Neil will write about our first Volleyball game and
Camille will write a review of a movie.
- Laura D will be in charge of creating game, i.e. crosswords or
Sudoku games to include in each issue.
- Distribution: will pick a few spots and a specific group of people
will do it all the time in specific classes and in the lobby of
Stewart bio and on the fourth floor. Maybe Burnside too.

*Cleanliness:

-Laura H will make an easier schedule for everyone to follow

regarding daily maintenance of the office.

1
-1 hour after next week’s meeting, everyone to stay and help re-
organize the office, i.e. go through all the random boxes and
remove things we no longer use, as well as wash Tupperware. Laura
H will provide a detailed list of what needs to be done.

Increasing student involvement in MBSU, (Mike and Ralph):

-Want to have a fundraiser dodge ball tournament, (we could use

this to sell our new sweatshirts) with a small admittance rate. Cross
faculty, cross department.
Mike to check if it is possible to get alcohol.
We can get funding from SUS for Special Projects. And if we do
interfaculty we could get the same thing form SSMU.
This could potentially be our big fundraising event.

*More parties, (Camille)

-Non-drinking but social events: ice skating at the old port or in the
atrium; we could order pizza. Need to look into vouchers for ice
skating.
-Other ideas: Hike up the mountain in the spring or snow-shoeing?
-For the alcoholics:
-wine and cheese in March around the 6th.
-Camille’s friend’s Fundraiser for Abused children on feb 22nd, at
Social, looking for people to donate door prizes, could donate our
sweaters from last year. We would have to sell tickets; this might
be an issue for us. We won’t be making profit from this. Just
would be making another location available for people to buy
shoes. Everyone is to dress in white; theme is “Sweet dreams”.

• Anne is having the open house and freshmen fair and it is

really important that some of us g, it is this Sunday and Monday.
Anne needs us to be there to talk to the kids about biology. Kevin
to confirm but it should be in the Holiday in on Sherbrook and
Durocher. Sunday: 10-3. Monday 10-3.
Sunday: Anil and Ben
Monday: Kev, Renee and maybe Laura D. and maybe Camille and
Laura H and Nathalie.
• Biology sweaters: Spoke to Rikki at quality sports, said we
wanted to order about 100, $29 for American apparel, embroided
stitches, plus 4 dollars for crest on hood. Mike will get the price
for the non-american apparel option.
• Volleyball t-shirts: possibly use iron-on and could then offer
people more personalized options.

2
NTCs: everything is ok!

-Dian needs a list of names for the fundraising committee: kev, laura
d., samia, dian mike and Ralph: Meeting at 4 next Wednesday.

*Everybody to bring a friend to the next meeting to be placed

on committees.

-Dian will send out a schedule for bake sales in Stewart biology, next
one will be on Wednesday to make up for the one we missed.

-In terms of the scholarship, McGill in Africa got back to Kev and told us
what happened to our money, it ended up going to a boy and they are
not sure who he is and they are also not sure if the other money
reached the girl. There are two other children that were mentioned
who recently lost their father, a man who worked with the McGill in
Africa program. We need them to guarantee that the money will reach
these children and since things seem to be influx with them it is better
we don’t raise money for them.
So it is official we are abandoning our project with McGill in Africa.
It turns out Villi is not going to Africa anymore but we can still donate
to Chapman’s clinic in Uganda. Kev will just double check that they still
need our funds.

*Ben to update Wiki tomorrow.
