MBSU Meeting Minutes

Date: Monday September 17, 2007

Time: 5: 30
In Attendance: Mike, Camille, Kevin, Laura H, Laura D, Nathalie, Samia, David, Neil,
Tiffany, Ralph, Anil, Rene, and Jordan.

Object: 3rd general meeting

The following topics were discussed this meeting;

So Far;

-We had pizza! 

-Keys: Mike and Dragan will pass on their keys to the VPs who stilld on’t have any:
Ralph and Camille.
-Undergraduate committee: Rachel is trying to get a compost and a recycling plan going
on for this building.
-Pinos might be replaced. MBSU does have a stay in the decision. Chartwells has
a food services contract for most food places on campus and it may be decided
that by the end of this year they replace Pinos. This would be like what has
happened at the Architecture café. We could possibly negotiate the contract to let
Pinos stay. Kevin will look into who owns the room. Either they should stay with
some sort of restriction or Chartwells should come in with some sort of restriction
their respective contracts.
-Curriculum meeting on Thursday at 1 or 2 pm: Kevin will check: agenda will be in our
box in W4. Kevin, Dian and Ben will attend.

Events coming up;

-BBQ: 11-2 on Thursday.

-Borrowing a grill from chemistry. We have to get it from Otto Mass to here. Want
to push it up at 10 in the morning on Thursday. Costco run on Wednesday night:
Kevin, Rachel, Camille. Anile can’t make it.
-Kevin can’t be there at the BBQ.
-Must defrost the burgers=> leave them in the fridge over night.

Announcements for BBQ and Lose the Shoes:

200 a and b: David will do the morning class. Who is doing the afternoon?
-Kevin will send out an email with what to say in the announcement.
-The profs should get Mikes slides by Wednesday or Thursday classes. Make
announcements on both days.

-Lose the shoes: People can sign up to play either at 3, 4, 5 or 6. The play for an hour and
championships are at seven. Will be on lower campus field.

-Pie Toss: 20$ per cream pie.

-Want to make this a tradition and want to do it on lower field.
-It’s going to take place after midterms, just before the wine and cheese.
-Professor Kramer is out, and it seems Bureau and Roy are in.
-Need to get the word out to grad students as well.
-Publicize this primarily as a charitable event, explain how this will further our
efforts to send two African students to high school. Then later explain the idea of
the pie toss.

-Theme for the yr involving Africa? Have suggestions? Send them in!

-Bake sale and Samosas sale. We need to book Leacock this week, we all need to bake
something. Dates will be decided shortly to allow time for publicizing.

Other;

-Newspaper: Samia is still missing something from Mike. To be printed tomorrow and
distributed. Every one grab a stack and distribute in their classes on Wednesday
and Thursday. U1 rep: Niel will bring some to 215.
-Send an email to everyone in biology trying to get writers. All execs and reps
have to send in articles. Important: In the next issue we all have to write a blurb
and introduce ourselves and our positions.
-We took pictures for.

-MEETINGS: Mondays same time.

-Office hours: if you want your office hours changed just check the file on the desktop
and change things. Try to fill up empty spots.

-Intramurals: Thursday night Forbes field 8 pm.
