CAPACITY BUILDING WORKSHOP FOR SCHOOL HEADS AND SDRRM COORDINATORS

1. Republic Act (RA) 10121 otherwise known as the Philippine Disaster Risk Reduction and
Management Act of 2010, mandated all government agencies to institutionalize policies,
structures, coordination mechanisms and programs with continuing budget appropriation on
DRRM from national to local levels. In connection, this Office announces the conduct of
Capacity Building Workshop for School Heads and SDRRM Coordinators on November 11 - 15,
2019 at Anne Raquel's Resort, Miguel L. Santos Village, New Cabalan, Olongapo City.

2. The activity aims to:

a. institutionalize the culture of safety among the schools and ensure the implementation of
School Disaster Risk Reduction and Management protocol guidelines and School DRRM
Committee;
b. standardize the DRRM Training for District and School DRRM Coordinators,
c. equip the School DRRM coordinators with the knowledge, skills and attitude towards
securing a disaster prepared schools, learners and personnel;
d. highlight the importance of the decision maker and implementer of the School Disaster
Risk Reduction Management as well as appropriation of funds for school preparedness
and resiliency; and
e. capacitate the participants on the Contingency Planning at the school level.

3. The participants to this training are the District DRRM Coordinators, two representatives from
every district, selected new school heads and four SGOD personnel.

4. All participants are required to bring their District and School DRRM plans and laptop and
extension wires.

5. All trained participants shall conduct the municipal roll out.

6. Enclosure No. 1. consists of the list of participants. Enclosure No. 2 is training matrix
and Enclosure No. 3 contains the Technical Working Committee.

7. Meals and accommodation of all participants will be charged to Capacity Building of

Schools on Basic DRRM and SDRRM Manual Funds, while the travel expenses of trainees,
trainers and technical working committee shall be charged to MOOE and/or local funds
subject to the usual accounting and auditing rules and regulations.

8. This also serves as Authority to Travel.

9. Immediate dissemination of this Memorandum is desired.
