Goal Essay
One day, I plan to live on my own land. On this land, I am going to place a brand-new
manufactured home for me and my family. I currently live in a neighborhood right in town and
as much as I enjoy the proximity, I yearn for open space. I see many more opportunities for my
family this way as well as an investment for my children. To attain my goal of living on my own
land, I will need to find a secure job, buy land, and sell my current house.
The initial step I need to take to achieve my goal of living on my own land is to find a
graduate in four years and start working in my field when my youngest child enters elementary
school. The location of my future job will be a major factor as to where I choose to buy this land.
Having a reliable job will not only be beneficial to my goal, but financially imperative.
The following step toward reaching my goal of living on my own land is to buy land.
After obtaining a job, as stated previously, I will have a better idea as to what my budget will be,
thus affecting my search. I will do my own research on the internet as well as follow market
trends. I will also find a real estate agent to guide me to areas for sale. Buying the land I would
The last step I need to take to reach my goal of living on my own land is to sell my
current house. I plan to use that amount towards the purchase of my land and my future home. In
order to maximize that amount, I will need to do some updating and remodeling prior. I will need
to find a well- qualified professional to assist me in selling my house. Selling my house would
In conclusion, after finding a secure job, buying land, and selling my house, I will have
achieved my goal of living on my own land. As well as the much anticipated space to roam, this
goal is so important to me because I have two children whom I would like to leave this to when
my husband and I are gone. We have chosen to place a manufactured home on the land so they
have the option to have it removed when the time comes and don’t have to fight over a house.
Mark Twain once said, “Buy land, they’re not making it anymore.” I agree with this quote and
am confident in my goal.
