Looking Back

Throughout this course, I have faced challenges, learned new skills, and am now prepared

to use these skills outside of the classroom. Using in-text citations and quotes in the argument

essay was tricky for me. I have always used the APA format, so I needed help from The Little

Seagull Handbook to format my citations correctly using MLA. I also struggled writing

conclusions for my essays that weren’t redundant. I received a lot of good feedback during the

workshops we did in class. The argument essay was the hardest for me because of the Rogerian

theory. It’s not easy to find common ground with a topic you disagree with. Writing the goal

essay taught me how to outline and structure an essay. I learned that I am more of a visual

learner because I grasped these concepts better when drawn on the board. Incorporating the

senses in the descriptive paragraph prepared me on how to keep the reader involved when I was

writing the narration essay. One thing I will take from this class is the use of time management

and meeting deadlines, which was crucial in meeting course due dates. Also, writing the

narration essay has prepped me with better teamwork skills, which I will always need in my

professional and personal life. Learning to write structured, organized papers is going to benefit

me when I need to write resume. My confidence in my own ability has increased tremendously

since the beginning of this course and I no longer feel dread towards writing.
