Reflection Essay
Throughout this semester, I was able to learn a lot about myself as a writer, in terms of
my strengths and weaknesses. By taking this class, I was given many opportunities to learn how
to write different types of essays, analyze passages, and use rhetoric. All of these techniques are
things that I will be able to use in other classes and to help me be successful on the AP exam. I
think that this was class really pushed me and I was able to become a better writer in certain
areas and recognize weaknesses I did not even realize I had and that I still need to continue to
work on.
After writing the first essay in class, one of my greatest weakness became very apparent
to me. Time was something I struggled a lot with I was not able to pace myself and did not even
finish most of the essays in class. Usually when there are time limits on essays, I get distracted
by the fact that I only have a limited amount of time that before I knew it, time would be up.
Also I feel more pressure and it felt like I could not think of any ideas. Then as a result, I could
not properly develop my body paragraphs and provide enough commentary with my evidence
and quotes. This is an aspect of writing that I still am not good at and will need to continue to
work on.
