2807.42 A thickness of 25 mm lo 40 mm of gunite can normally be deposited in one
‘peration. I, for some reason, the total thickness is fo be built up in sdceessive operations,
the previous layer shout be allowed fo sel but not become hard before the application of fie
‘subsequent layor. Gunitng shall always be done on a damp concrate surface.
2807.13 Where required, welded wire fabies 50 mm x 50 mm x No. 10 gauge shal
be provided inthe first layer of gunting, The fabric shal be tied propery In case the damage
to the conorote member is vary deop, the specications for guniing 2 well as requirement
‘of placoment of wire mas, has to be decided as per feld conditions,
2807.14 The stipulations given in 1S:9012 ragerding application of gunte should be
followed s0 a8 to keep the rebound to the minimum. The qualty of gunting and werkrenship
shall be such that the percentage of rebound mentioned in 189012 can be adhered to, ln no
Circumstances shall the rebound material be re-used in te vark
2807.15 It would be desirable that green gunite Is moistened for at least 7 days.
uniting work shal nt be dona during windy or rainy conditions.
2808 PROTECTIVE SURFACE COATING OF CONCRETE BY ACRYLIC
ELASTOMERIC COATING
2808.4 ‘The acrylic elastomeric coating shall be water based (solvent free}, modified
with selected mineral filers applied over the prepared surface. The coating should have
anti-carbonation and water vapor diftsion property and shoul ba resistant to action of uta
Yiolet (UV) radiation, It should be waterproof and capable of bridging erazings and cracks.
‘The shet it for such coatings shall not be more than 6 months.
808.2 Itis necessary that the system should be capable of protecting the surfaces
& re-stessed and reinforced concrete members from all deteterious elements such as
Chlorides and sulphates. The protective treatment should allow excess water vapour in the
‘onereis to evaporate out (breathing) without rupturing self due to vapour pressure. The
Protective system itself should not deterocate from exposure {9 UV rays and weathering,
The acrylic elastomeric costing system shall satisly the requirements given in
‘Table 2800-2,

2808.3 Quality Assurance
The Acrylic elastomeric material should be tesied in GOI accredited laboratories where
‘such laboratories are available, otherwise in other standard latoratories where similar
facilis exist for properties specified above. Random samples during execution shall be
faken from consignments brought to site to very thatthe test resuts metch with the eatior
certficstes produced before approval of vie product. Both the test results (orior to approvel
nd during execution), shall conform to the requirements as per Table 2600-1, fang which
the consignment shall be rejected. t shall ba mace mandatory that he stock register forthe
‘materials are maintained at ste and signed by the Engineer periodical,
m7Repair of Structures, Section 2800
2008.4 Surface Preparation
‘The work shell commence efter carrying out eny repair tothe concrete surface as directed
by the Engineer. The concrete surface shal be Tre from all adhesion inhibiting substances
such as oll grease release agents as well as sitence and dist. The surface shal be cleaned
by wire brushing, mechanical scraping and any loose malatial shall be removed by chiseing
vith small hammer and washed with clean water. The substrata shall be stucturely sound
for effective bond ofthe acryc polymer with the concrete surface. Al pin holes shall be filed
vith non-shrink polymer modifies fine repair morte.
2808.5 Application
‘After preparing the surface and filing the pin holes, primer coat (75-100 gmisqim.) shall be
‘2ppiled with brushvlambskinroller/spray gun and shall be cured for 60 minules oF os specified
by the manufacturer
‘Subsequently, 1" and 2° coats of polymer coating shall bs applied with brushispray guni
roller keeping the time between coats not less than 2h and rot mare than 72h. Consumption
Pe coat shall be 200-225 gr. The total dry fim thickness ofthe protective coating fo ll
Coats shall be in the range of 200-225 microns. The wet fir thickness shal be measured st
numberof selected locations a the time of application with painting gauges. For measuring
the dy fim thickness, suitably located painting gauge shall te used. Atleast one gauge shell
belocated on each face of superstructure in each span but nat less than one gauge/00 sqm.
For the given solid contentin the application the dry flm thickness to wet fm thickness ratio
should be established by prior testing in the laboratory using aporopriate panels lke glass
Plates, flat concrete, steel plates (300 x 300 mith similr coatings. Alternatively, the dry
{im thickness may be calculated from the measured wet flmthickness by muliplying with the
sold contents per unit volume,
208.6 Porformance Guarantee
This type of protective coating shall be executed only through authorized technical applicators
of standard menutactures who have requisite work experience for having earied ovt similar
‘ype coating works. The Engineer shall teke performance guarantee from the agency
responsible forthe execution ofthe work for minimum pert of § years.
2809 PROTECTIVE SURFACE COATING OF CONCRETE BY PATENTED
‘SYSTEMS OF COATING
Palonted system of protective coating lke epoxy polyurethane painting system, epoxy
Phenolic protectiva system and other systems shallbe used ony with the approval af Engineer
‘after the assessment ofthe performance ofthe product, backed by certificates from users,
‘cceptance tests as per published standards, pertinently to cover the material, processes,
