I. Introduction

Supervised Industrial Training (SIT) is a training program of a student where to explore them into a
real work practice and for being qualifying requested by profession in specific industry. As a student, an
OJT or On the Job training or internship program is an opportunity to go through the actual methodologies
of a specific job using the real tools, Equipment’s and documents. It is a training that becomes a
development to a student trainee; it helps us to enhance our skills about in a chosen field.
Supervised Industrial Training is one of the methods to show what we have learned in our school.
To encounter a different thing that happens in the industry, the life and struggle, the joy and problems
that we need to faced when we are in the production company. It shows us what the real happenings in
industry are. It’s also helping us to socialize in different kinds of people.
Maynilad Water Services, Inc. Is the water and the wastewater services provider for the 17 cities

and municipalities that comprise the West zone of the Metropolitan Manila area. The company vision is to

lead the water solutions company in the Philippines with a strong presence across Asia and there mission is

to provide safe, affordable and sustainable water solutions that enable to serve lead healthier, more

comfortable lives.

II. Job/s Performed in the Company

On my first day in my first week, I was oriented in the company, guiding and telling the rules and

regulation, conduct a safety seminar inside the company and tour in the water treatment in Lamesa eco

park. I was assigned in the Internal Asset Management Department. My supervisor told us that our task is

to provide working instructions of assembly and dis assembly of machines that they used in the Treatment

plant or pumping stations. Since I am from cavite and there office is in quezon city, my supervisor told me

to do a work in South Maintenance Warehouse here in Pasay City. It is under the Booster Management in

South. Our task is to help our supervisor to verify the list of the spare parts, tools and equipments, pumps

and motors that they used to put it in the new system data base that there going to do. We also do the

New Bacoor Warehouse Maintenance shop database. Our goal is to help our supervisor with my

colleagues ensure that the maintenance warehouse shop is good and clean and to verify the list and put it
in the new database system to help the warehouse man and to provide working instructions from other

machines.
III. Experienced earned in terms of

Knowledge

In this training program, I’ve learned about some Preventive Maintenance and

Inspection, Downtime Monitoring and familiarizing about the tools and spare parts inside water

pumping station.

Skill

In terms of skill, I learned on how to debug the problem of the Machine because we are
doing working instruction of assembly and dis assembly of the machines.

Values

After the experience I gained in the company, I learned that you must always respect
other’s opinion. And if you’re supervising people, you need to be approachable and treat them
nicely. Lastly, the greatest treasure that our supervisor told us was to find a job that will make us
feel fulfilled and will let us learn additional knowledge aside from the knowledge that we have.

Human Relations

During the internship, I observed how the engineers treat the operators nicely despite
their differences. They we’re so approachable to the point that they can ask for help when they
are experiencing problem while doing a certain job. I can apply this someday to establish a good
relation with my co-workers.

IV. Problem met while on Training

School Related Problem

During the internship program, the problem I encountered was the difficulty to comply
with the requirements of the school and the company due to the timeframe given for us to
complete the said program.
Company Related Problem

The internship program was really tiring for the trainee due to the assigned work
activities. There were a lot of activities to be accomplished everyday such as daily downtime
monitoring, workload balancing, kaizen project, Preventive Maintenance and Inspection. The
access for information was really difficult because the PCs available were not connected to the
internet. There was only one computer that has internet connection. Another was that most of
the times, the trainees were not allowed to take overtime even if there were some work activities
to do.

V. Suggestion and Recommendation

As for my opinion, Supervised Industrial Training Program (SIT) should be more than 240
hours. This is because the timeframe for the said program is too short for us students to learn
more about the actual applications of Mechanical Engineering in professional environment.
