Detailed lesson plan
Phases of matter
I. Objectives
At the end of the lesson 80% of the pupils are able to.
a. Identify the phases of matter.
b. Illustrate examples of each phases of matter.
c. Appreciate the importance of the phases matter according to their uses.

II. Procedure
A. Prayer
Class let us all stand and pray.
To be lead by….
(students will stand and pray)
Amen.

Amen

B. Checking of attendance

Is there any of your classmates are absents

today?

Nobody is absent today ma`am.

Well, that’s very good.

C. Checking of assignments

Yesterday I have given you an assignment to

answer. Did you answer your assignments
children?
Yes ma`am
Okay bring out your assignments and
exchange with your seatmates.

(students will check their assignments)

D. Review of the pass lesson

Okay children yesterday we have learned
about the living and non living things right ?

Yes ma`am

Okay.
To check if u still remember our pass lesson.
Will you define living things and give an
example ? When we say living things these are organisms that
has lives and once alive.

Excellent!

How about some examples of living things? Some examples are humans and animals.

Very good.

How about the non living things ? When we say non living things these are things that
has no life and never been alive.

Brilliant!

Will u give some examples ?

Chairs and tables.

Very good.

It seems that you really understand our pass

lesson. And I’m sure you are all ready for our
next topic right ? Yes ma’am.

Ok very good.

III. Motivation.

So today have brought something for you

today.

(teacher will show some various samples

of solid, liquid and gas materials.)
Base on these things that you can see
what have you notice about them ? The pictures represents solid, liquid and gas

Very good.
jwjahwhWhat you have said is correct.
These things are solid, liquid and gas.
Which has something to do with our
lesson for today.
Which is the phases of matter.

IV. Discussion(lesson proper)

Will you give the definition of solid

matter ? solid is a sample of matter that retains its shape and
density when not confined.

Very good.

Will you give an example. Rocks, and chairs.

Very good.

Now will you define liquid matter? liquid is a substance which is not solid but which
flows and can be poured, it has no definite shape.

Will give an example.

Water.

Very good.

What about the definition of a gas

matter ? Gas is a state of matter that has no fixed shape and
no fixed volume. Gases have lower density than
other states of matter, such as solids and liquids.

Will you give an example of a gas

matter ? Air

Very good.
Is the topic today is clear ?

Yes ma’am.

Solid liquid Gas

V. Application
Activity 1.

Classify the words below depending on Rocks soy sauce oxygen

what phase of matter they belong. Chair gasoline carbon
dioxide
Metal oil
Oil rocks oxygen soy sauce Crystal perfume

Chair gasoline metal perfume

Crystal carbon dioxide

Activity 2.

Write S if the given is a Solid

L if it is Liquid and G is it Gas.
S
1. Apple S
2. Television L
3. Perfume G
4. Hairspray S
5. Pillow

VI. Valuing

Why do we have to know the phases of

matter
It is necessary for us to know the phases of matter to
be able to understand their uses and importance.
Very good.

We should know the meaning and

examples of the phases of matter for us to
understand the uses of them.

VII. Generalization

Now to see if you really understand our

lesson.

What do you call the phases of matter that

flows freely and it doesn’t have a definite
shape ?
It is the liquid.

Very Good.

How about the one doesn’t move but it

has a definite shape. It is the solid matter .

Excellent!

And lastly a phase of matter that has no

shape and no volume?
The gas matter.

Very good.

VIII. Evaluation
True or false. Write true if the statement is
correct. And false it is not.
False
1. Solid can flow freely. False
2. Gas matter has definite
shape. True
3. Liquid has lower density. True
4. Solid are unable to move. False
5. Liquid matter has definite
shape.

IX. Assignment

Bring some picture of a flowing liquid.
