1. INTRODUCTION
The program 82-SW/CMU is written to run in MS Windows® for data acquisition and
processing of CBR, Marshall, Indirect tensile and generally of load/displacement tests.
The software is designed to be used specifically with new DIGIMAX TOUCH 76-P60R02,
with 76-B3802 and with 34-V1172, 70-T1082, 70-T1182 and 70-T1192 testing machines.
The testing device is connected to the PC using a high-speed ethernet link, passing data and
commands to/from the software in real-time, allowing the device to be controlled by the PC,
and live mesaured and calculated test data to be displayed on the screen.
This manual contains installation and setup information (Section 3), reference sections
detailing the components of the test modules software (Section 4) and a user guide covering
all the basic functions of the software (Section 5).
WARNING:
Improper use of testing machines can cause injury to personnel and/or damage to
equipment. Refer to the relevant testing machine instruction manuals for safety
information and procedures for correct use of the machines.
Any use of the equipment other than that described in the relevant instruction manuals
will void the warranty terms of the equipment.
This icon indicates a NOTE; please read the items marked by this icon
carefully.
This icon indicates a WARNING message; the items marked by this icon refer
to the safety aspects of the operator and/or of the service engineer.
2. DESCRIPTION
The software comprises two parts:
The CMU is the base software, which communicates with the testing device
and is used for managing all the system settings and options.
The TEST MODULES are test modules that are run from within the CMU
and are used to view and manage current and previous test. The TEST
MODULUS do not function as a stand-alone product.
1. From the Windows Start menu, open the Control Panel and select Regional and
Language Options from the list.
3. In the next window, make sure that the settings are the same as shown below. Note that
the Decimal symbol is ‘.’ and the Digit grouping symbol is blank.
4. Click Apply if any changes were made before clicking OK to close the window.
5. Click OK to close the previous window and then close the Control Panel.
NOTE:
It is important that the UAC settings are configured as described below. If the settings
are not correct, it will not be possible to register the software and the test results database
and language customisation will not function.
1. From the Windows Start menu, open the Control Panel and select Action Center.
1. From the Windows Start menu, open the Control Panel and select Network
Connections.
2. In the window that appears, select the wireless network and right-mouse click. From
the menu, select Disable.
3. Check that the connection status is ‘Disabled’. Close the Network Connections panel
and then close Control Panel.
* To check which operating system the PC has, open Control Panel and select System.
Details of the operating system can be found on the General tab.
3.2.4 IP Address
The properties of the LAN card must be set as shown in the picture below. If needed,
instructions for opening this panel can be found at:
‘http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Change-TCP-IP-settings’ (for windows 7)
or
‘http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-vista/Change-TCP-IP-settings’ (for
Windows Vista)
Tick the ‘Validate settings upon exit’ box, if there is one.
1. From the Windows Start menu, open the Control Panel and select Power Options.
2. Windows XP operating system - in the Power Options panel, select the Power
Schemes tab and select ‘Never’ for the all the available power off settings. Click OK to
save the changes and close the panel and then close the Control Panel.
3. Windows 7, 8 or Vista operating system – in the Power options window, select the
power plan marked as ‘recommended’ and then click ‘Change plan settings’.
Select ‘Never’ for all the available power off settings and then click ‘Save changes’.
Clos the Control panel.
Fig. 3-1
NOTE:
The test unit must connect directly to the LAN port of the PC. It must not be connected
to the PC via a hub.
If the PC is already connected to a network, the testing ubit must be connected to a
second, separate LAN card installed in the PC. If the PC network connection is wireless
a second LAN card is not necessary, but refer to Section 3.2.3 on Wifi settings.
2. Insert the CD provided into the CD-ROM drive of the PC. After a few seconds the
installation program starts up automatically.
If it does not start automatically, run the file ‘setup.exe’ from the CD in Windows
Explorer.

accept the License Agreement’ check box and click Next.
Read the text about the National Instruments license and if you accept the terms,
select the ‘I accept the License Agreement’ check box and click Next.
The installation is now finished, and a new folder containing all the necessary files
will have been created in the destination directory that you specified at the start of
the process.
If requested, in the final window, click Restart to reboot the PC.
4. After the PC has restarted, the software is ready to use. If you want to create a
shortcut to run the software from an icon on the desktop, follow the steps below.

NOTE:
The software uses the system clock of the PC to work out how many days of a trial period
remain. If the PC date or time are changed after the software is installed, it will no longer
be possible to register the software on the PC.
During the trial period, the registration window is displayed every time the software is
started. To use the software without registering, click the Skip button. The number of days
remaining in the trial period are displayed in red at the top of the window.
The software can still be registered even if the trial period has expired.

1. Install and run the software according to the instructions given in Section 3 of this
manual.
2. In the registration window that appears when the software starts, you will see a
Registration number.
NOTE:
You must tell CONTROLS your Registration number and the name of the software you
want to register in order to receive an Unlock code.
You should also include the acknowledgement (ACK) number of your purchase and the
name of your company in any correspondance.
To continue using the software while you wait for the Unlock code, click the Skip button on
the registration window.
4. When you receive the Unlock code, click the Register button on the registration
window.
5. In the next window, type the Unlock code into the cells provided.
The unlock code should have 16 characters: enter 4 characters in each cell; do not
enter any hyphens or spaces. For example, this unlock code: 9526-6452-7042-4126 is
shown entered below.

Calculation
Laboratory molded specimens shall satisfy the thickness requirement of 63.5 6 2.5 mm (2.50
6 0.10 in.). Specimens within the thickness tolerance may be corrected based on specimen
volume or thickness. Stabilities determined on field cores with large variation in volume or
thickness shall also be corrected. However, results with larger corrections should be used
with caution. Correction factors (correlation ratios) are given in Table 1. The correlation
ratio is used in the following manner.
A=BxC
where:
A = corrected stability,
B = measure of stability (load), and
C = correlation ratio from Table 1.
b. ASTM D5581
Calculation

the following manner.
A=BxC
where:
A = corrected stability,
B = measure of stability (load), and
C = correlation ratio from Table 1.
c. EN12697-34
Calculation
The maximum load attained represents the stability of the mix only if the specimen height
equals the required 63,5 mm. A corrected stability shall be reported by multiplying the
maximum load with the correction factor calculated from the following equations using the
volume of the specimen as determined in accordance with with EN 12697-6:
where
c is the correction factor;
h is the height of the specimen (in millimetres);
ν is the volume of the specimen determined in 6.1 (in cubic millimetres).
The stability, S, is reported to the nearest 0,1 kN.
To obtain the flow value F, measure on the graph of force versus deformation the distance
from the intersection of the tangent and the base line, A, to the point where the maximum
load is achieved, M. The flow values Ft and FT are similarly obtained.
Record the flow values, F, Ft and FT, to the nearest 0,1 mm.
Test results shall be considered reliable if both the variation in stability between specimens,
VS, is less than 15 % and the variation in flow between specimens, Vf, is less than 20 %.
Reject the test specimen with the largest variation and obtain the average value of the other
specimens if either:
− the stability value from one or more specimens differs from the average stability by
more than 15 %, or
− the flow value from one or more specimens differs from the average flow by more
than 20 %.
Furthermore, if any value differs from the new average by more than 15 % for stability or 20
% for flow, repeat the test.
The Marshall quotient shall be obtained by the calculation of S/F and reporting the value
obtained to 0,1 kN/mm.
