My Essay.

(Photo 2) (Photo 1)

This image was taken in the Vietnam war. It is an American soldier close to 4 little boys, that
are looking at their house that is burning and crumbling into flames. When adding musical
elements, the Dynamics of the piece I am making will be loud. The reason behind this is
because these flames are spreading quickly and the heart rate of those innocent children. In
the first photo, they tempo of the song will be fast, and this is because the fire is going quick
so it the most sensible thing to say that the piece that I am going to compose, the chords will
be going quick. Speaking of chords, in peace, to represent picture 1, my structure will have a
Major-Minor- Minor finger picking- Major finger picking- Minor finger picking. The reason that I
picked up this type of structure or the sound is because I am trying to add both picture 1 and
picture 2. In picture 1, I am representing this as a Major sound since the fire is wild and it is
quickly burning down the house of those children, and a Major seems happy, but it also is
representing loud, but of course picture 1 can’t be happy but of course the children will be
screaming or the burning wood collapsing on the grass. So this again goes back to the
dynamics, where the major will be representing the loud part and then the minor will be
representing the soft. The reason that I am saying that photo 2 is representing a minor is
because all the soldiers that are on that picture or in that specific forest. The don’t know
where they are going to end up and there are people dying right next to them will bullets
quickly penetrating their fellow soldiers. So they will be going slowly just to make sure that
the opponent doesn't notice that there are enemies coming towards him. So looking back to
the dynamics and tempo, it will be soft, because the soldiers are scared of being shot or
noticed and the tempo will be slow. The tempo will be represented in the finger picking
because it gives us people more of a different feeling when you are playing something soft
and slow. The chords that I am using for the start of my composition will be following a
pattern of Major-Minor. In the major I am using a progression, such as 1-4-5. It sounds good
and all that but I am reversing the order and instead of a 1-4-5, I will be playing a 5-4-1- 4-5,
all of this is going to be played in a D major chords, and then from there I am going to be
switching onto a minor chord progression from a G. The major part represents all the things
that are happening in photo 1, and then the transition will take part, from a D major to a Am.
From a G chord, I am going to go to a Bm chord and then start playing the saying chord
progression in the different order as I played it in the Major, I will do it in a minor. In minor
chord progression, the chords that I will be using are Am-Em-D-Em, and this represents the
slow and sad few minutes of the soldiers, who are trying to be careful and all that. But it not
only the chords that are representing that, it is also the finger picking where these moments
will be captured. Since the finger picking is starting as a minor, this will be like a quick
flashback to photo 2. This whole piece of composition will end in a small chord progression,
D major - G major and then into an Em. The reason that I am ending the piece in this type of
progression and especially in an Em, is because it sounds well and this event was a war, so
just to tell everyone that this was a sad and a disturbing moment in history, and just to end
the piece in a minor, it gives us this feeling, and the special reason that I chose an Em is
because it makes sure that the song ends, not your not on an upbeat where you are waiting
or it just ends on a random place. The structure that I will be using in my composition will be
an Arch, so it will be as follows. A. B. C. B. A. The reason is because I want to end my piece
in this minor chord but it follows the same structure as the Major chord progression and this
will end my music in this sad way, like I said before so that people will realise that this is a
horrific event in our history. There were multiple songs that I was inspired by, but if we had to
choose 2 for example, then I would like to say Hall of the Mountain King. This is because
when you are going to listen to my piece, it will start of very soft, and then go loud, at the
finger picking and then soft again at the chords. So this will change it a bit and make it seem
a bit more interesting. The other song that I got inspired by is the Seven Nations Army. Their
song is played nicely on the electric guitar, and then when moving from fret to fret, and when
you also add your own sound effects, to this, it makes the sound very different and
interesting. In my song, the first part of my finger picking, I will be using a similar tactic of
finger picking and making this metal sound when moving from fret to fret on the same string.
