DEFINITION Of SYSTEM ANALYSIS:

Decomposition of a whole information system into parts of its components
with a view to identify and evaluate problems, opportunities, obstacles and needs
It is hoped that it can be proposed improvements.
Stage analysis conducted after the planning phase of the system and prior
to the design phase of the system. This stage is the stage of critical and very
important, since this causes phase errors in the error on the next step.
For example, you are faced with a system to determine how far the system
has reached his target. If the system has some weaknesses, you should be able to
find it. These tasks are referred to as system analysis.
The main task of analyzing system include:
1) To determine the scope of the system
2) Collect facts
3) To analyze facts
4) Communicate these findings through reports system analysis

The fact is part of the information which shows the reality, the situation and
relation that guarantee analysis and modeling.

2. STEPS IN SYSTEM ANALYSIS

The basic steps that should be performed by a systems analyst is:
1. Identify, identify the problem
2. Understand, understand the existing system work
3. Analyze, analyze system
4. Report, create a report analysis results

For each of these steps, some tasks need to be done by a systems analyst. So that
makes it easy to do coordination and surveillance, the Coordinator of the team of
analysts can make a working paper containing the tasks that must be done for each
step of the analysis of these systems.
3. IDENTIFY THE PROBLEM
Identify (to know) the problem is the first step conducted in the phase analysis
system. The problem can be defined as a question that is desirable to solved. It was
this issue that led to a goal from system can not be achieved. Therefore, the first
step should be performed by a systems analyst is to identify in advance the
problems that occur.
The tasks to be done are: systems analyst:
1. Identify the cause of the problem
2. Identify a decision point
3. Identify key personnel-personnel

3.1. Identify the cause of the problem

Systems analyst should have enough knowledge about the application that is
being analyst. For business applications, analyst the system need to have
knowledge about the business system implemented in the Organization, so that it
can identify the cause the occurrence of this problem.
The task of identifying the cause of the problem starts with reviewing first
anniversary of the subject matter has been released by management or that have
been found by a systems analyst in the planning phase of the system.

3.2. identify a decision point

After the cause of the occurrence of a problem can be identified, then It
should also identify decision points causes problems such. The point of the
decision indicates a condition that to cause something to happen.
Systems analyst when it is able to identify in advance the points the decision
of the cause of the problem, then it can start his research in the decision points. As
the basis of identification points This decision, can be used as flow paperwork
documents or forms Flowchart when documentation is owned by the company.
3.3. Identifying Key Personnels
After decision points causes a problem can be identified along with the
location of the occurrence, then the next needs to be identified key personnel-
personnel are either direct or not directly can lead to the occurrence of the
problem. Key personnel-personnel identification can be done with referring to the
company as well as documents flow chart documents description of work (job
description).

4. UNDERSTANDING SYSTEM WORKS

This step can be done by studying in detail how the system operates. Required
data can be obtained by way of doing research. When on the stage planning has
already been held research, nature still a preliminary study (preliminary survey).
While on stage system analysis, detailed research (research are detailed Survey).
Systems analyst needs to learn what and how the operations of the the existing
system before attempting to analyze the problems, weaknesses and needs of the
users of the system to can recommend a resolution. A number of data need to be
collected, using data collection techniques There, i.e., interview, oberservasi, a
list of questions and sampling.

Tasks that need to be done in this step are:

1) To determine the type of research
2) Plan a research outline
a. set the outline of the interview
b. set the outline observation
c. outline sampling Set
3) Make a research assignment
4) Create agenda interview
5) Collect research results

4.1. Determine the type of Research

Type of research need to be determined for each decision point that will be
examined. This type of research depends on the type of data This can be obtained,
the data about the operating system, data about the gear system, control system, or
I/O are used by the system.
4.2. Plan Outline of research
So that research can be carried out efficiently and effectively, then th outline
of research must be planned in advance, which includes:
1) where the research will be conducted
2) What and whom will be examined
3) who will examine the
4) When doing research
From this table, the next plan of the specified type into the his research
respectively

4.3.Creating the assignment Research

After a research outline plan is created, then the task is resume by specifying
the duties of each Member of the team of analyst the system, which is determined
by the systems analyst Coordinator by mail the assignment to include Annex
research activities It should be done.

4.4. creating the Agenda of Interviews

Before the interview done, time and material need intervie discussed. This
plan can be written on the agenda of the interview and taken during the interview
takes place. The aim is so that the interview can be completed on time and no the
material is missing.

4.5. Collect research results

Facts or data are obtained from the results of the research must be 1`collected
as a documentation of the old system, namely:
1) Time to do an activity
2) Error in the old system
3) Sampling
4) The forms and reports that are generated by the old system
5) data elements
6) The technology used in the old system
7) system/user information Needs management
5. ANALYZE THE RESULTS
This step is done based on the data that has been retrieved from the the results of
research that has been done.

5.1. Analyze the weaknesses of the system

Research done to answer the question:
1) what worked?
2) how to do it?
3) who worked on?
4) where done?

Analyzing the weakness of the system is otherwise done to answer the question:
1) why do done?
2) do done?
3) whether it has been done well?

The desired target by the new system is determined by the assessment criteria
are as follows: the relevance, capacity, efficiency, timeliness, accessibility,
flexibility, accuracy, reliability, security, economy, simplicity.
Based on this criteria and questions, systems analyst will be able to do the
analysts from the research results for find the weaknesses and the problems of the
existing system.

5.2. Analyze information needs Users/management

Other duties of a systems analyst required with respect to the main target of
information systems, that provide information required for the wearer needs to be
analyzed.
6. MAKE A REPORT ANALYSIS RESULTS

Report the results of the analysis submitted to the Steering Committee (the
Steering Committee) that will be forwarded to the management. Steering Committee
together with the management and users the system will learn the findings and
analysts who have performed by a systems analyst are presented in this report.
The main purpose of the submission of these reports to management are:
1) Analysis has been completed
2) Straighten out any conceptions about what has been found and analyzed by
system analysts but not in accordance According to the management
3) Asking for opinions and advice from the management
4) Asking for approval to the management to do the next action (can be either
forward to the stage of design the system or stop the project when it is deemed
not feasible anymore)
All the results obtained from the research need to be attached to the report the
results of this analysis, so that management and the user can check back the truth of
the data that has been retrieved.

PREFACE

Thank to Almighty God who has given His bless to the writer for
finishing the APSIA paper assignment entitled “system analysis”.

This paper is a requirement to fulfill the assignment from Mr.widada the

APSIA teacher gunadarma university. The writer also thanks to him for
all the guidance to complete it.

Although this paper has many deficiencies in the arrangement and

explanation, the writer hope that it can be used as a reference for the
reader to understand the system analysis
