PUBLIC SPEAKING FORMAT

To give a talk, this is the format used:

1- Greet your audience. E.g.:

Good morning to all fellow friends/ everyone. Thank you for inviting me
to give a talk here today.

2- Tell your audience the topic of your talk. E.g.:

I will give a talk on the topic……./ I shall share with you some of my
opinions regarding…/ I am going to talk about ……..

3- Give your talk/ speech. Don’t forget to address your audience. E.g.:
My dear audience…
My fellow friends…
Ladies and gentlemen….

4- In your talk, you can use logical connectors. E.g.:

Furthermore,… As a result,…
Moreover,… In contrast,…
However,… Contrary to….., ….
Nevertheless,… Hence,…
Therefore,.. Thus,…..
In addition,… Since…
Consequently,…

5- Make sure you give a suitable conclusion to end the talk. E.g.:
As a conclusion, …..
In conclusion, ….
To conclude my talk, I would like to say that…..

6- When ending your talk, don’t forget to appreciate your audience for listening to
your talk. E.g.:
Thank you for lending me your ears.
Thank you for paying attention while I gave my speech just now.
Thank you for giving your full attention just now.
