ABSTRACT

THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN PARENTS’ PARENTING STYLE AND SELF-

ESTEEM OF STUDENTS GRADE 11 STUDENTS IN MARYHILL COLLEGE.
Unpublished Thesis, Maryhill College, Lucena City, November 2019. (Mr. Matt Wilson
Quisao, Adviser)

The study aimed to determine the relationship between parents’ parenting style and

self-esteem of students in Maryhill College. The researchers utilized a descriptive design in

conducting the study. The study was conducted in Maryhill College located in ML Tagarao

St., Brgy. 5, Lucena City. The population of the study were chosen through random

sampling. Students are chosen whether they are available and willing to be the part of the

research. Since Senior High School HUMSS students has a total population of 384, Slovin’s

formula was used to determine the number of respondents needed in the study. Number of

representatives from each section was determined through proportioning the population.

In the light of the findings of the study, it was found out that students in Maryhill

College possess a good level of self-esteem esteem and experience a positive parenting style.

Therefore, the researchers proposed a program/symposium that will tackle the self-esteem

and its importance as well as the parenting style of the parents and its impact to the

development of adolescents’ self-esteem.

Key words: self-esteem, parenting style
