1. What is the strategy/ies of choice used by SM?


A: SM Properties applied and put into use the strategies commonly used by
companies of corporate level. Growth strategy, with SM continuing to expand its
residential, hotel, and retail offerings reaching to far flung provinces in order to be the
predecessors for development, and as well as in banking. SMDC currently owns 669
hectares of land bank outside Metro Manila, more than a hundred hectares higher than
its 1st quarter. SM Retail now operates 2,600 stores. This strategy helps them for a
faster market penetration and in promoting regional growth. SM uses the Parenting
strategy as well with SM Investments Corporation leading and overlooking to ensure
proper management and development.

2. Describe how this strategy is implemented relative to its vision and mission.
A: The strategies clearly are implemented relative to its vision of building world-
class businesses that are catalysts for developing communities by continuing to grow,
but not just growing, but expanding by going at the right direction by partnering and
developing partner communities with its Parent company spearheading and
overlooking to ensure a consistent high standard service for the customers. Always
ensuring the highest standards in all its businesses.

3. What is your opinion in relation to what you have learned on strategy formulation?
A: Just like in life, in school, doing a sport or pursuing a passion, or even in
managing a business no matter how big or small, applying the correct and realistic
strategy, formulating it in order to get the strategy formulation will always lead you to
achieving the goals you have set, and when it comes to business, achieving the goals
set written in your vision and in your mission. In a nutshell, having the correct
strategy formulation will always lead to success, growth, and further development.
