Introduction

I. In this era of smartphone revolution, the users are prone to get addicted to the convenience
provided by it. The youth are the most vulnerable group for smartphone addiction. The
smartphone revolution since 2000 is bringing noticeable changes in daily lives of people as
it is providing more convenience in day to day life but along with that, there are many
adverse-effects in interpersonal relationships, psychological well-being and physical health.

a. Smartphone addiction is the main cause of decreasing sleep quality


b. Smartphone addiction also cause physical health and mental health
c. It also reduced people physical activity and leading to obesity.

II. In 2018, there is a case that a Chinese woman nearly died of a stroke after using her mobile phone
for 20 hours.
A. After she recovered from the odeal, that woman was shocked that she had stroke meanwhile she
doesn’t has any cardiovascular disease and any genetic disease.
B. What had brought on the sudden illness? Dr Meng explained that turning the head to mobile
phone for prolonged time can compress neck blood vessel which is leading to blood clots
formation.
III. At the same year, Chinese woman lost her right eye vision after playing mobile games for 24 hours
A. According to what she said was she always skipped her sleep just to play her favourite game for
8/6 hrs per day.
B. The doctors said that excessive fatigue caused to eyes. Damage to eyes can occur from staring
at a smartphone screen for hours on end
IV. After a lot of research with regard to this topic, I want to beware with smartphone addiction because
it may already changed your lifestyle and affect your health.

Body

I. Smartphone addiction has many negative impact that we need to know


A. The lack of sleep quality
1. Mobile phones emit electromagnetic fields which can have adverse effects on
sleep electroencephalograms. This electromagnetic field exposure also affects
physiological factors such as sleep quality and the melatonin rhythm i.e., by
affecting melatonin onset time
2. Light emission of the screen of devices may affect sleep; and also mobile
phone use in the bedroom may disturb sleep in that received messages may
awake adolescents or youth at night

B. Physical activity decreasing


1. Smartphone addicts have less real life interaction with people outside and they
may have reduced physical activity leading to obesity. This can consequently
be harmful to physical health by resulting in higher fat mass and decreasing
muscle mass induced by less physical activity.
2. When its comes to less physical activity, any disease can be easier to approach this
kind of person.

C. Physical health
1. From some study, 53.8% were feeling ear discomfort, and 25.9% were having
mild-to-moderate wrist/hand pain. Almost 34.5% of the study participants felt
pain in the wrist or at the back of the neck while utilizing smartphones. Many
people strongly agreed that mobile phone usage causes fatigue.

2. Overusage of mobile phones may cause psychological illness such as dry eyes,
computer vision syndrome, weakness of thumb and wrist, neck pain and
rigidity

II. There is a lot of method how to curb smartphone addiction but these method also good and kinda
worked so well if you maintain to do it.
A. Track your usage
1. Nowadays, every smartphones has battery usages tracker and mobile data usage
tracker, just incase if you want to know what application that you addicted, just go to
this setting and see how much time did you spend on that application, if it is high, so
you need to reduce your usage and maintain.

B. Stop scrolling the timeline or feeds


1. Many of the most popular mobile apps (Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, and more)
are designed with infinite scrolling functions, where you can consume an endless feed
of information. However, you need to stop scrolling it because its endless of
information.

C. Spend time with your friends


1. Get help from your friend by admitting that you had addiction with smartphone so he
can help you spend some good time together such as playing some outdoor games,
travelling and join social interaction
