Dear Parents and Guardians,

Greetings!

This month, the country observes Buwan ng Wika in grateful celebration of having a common language that
unites the whole nation. Since this is a month-long celebration, this is an opportunity to integrate Filipino culture
appreciation, especially the Filipino language, in the classroom activities. We will also highlight the different Filipino
games during their PE class that most pupils are not familiar with since our kids now are more interested with computer
games.

The Filipino teachers prepared activities that will not only target the mentioned objectives but will also increase
their confidence. On our culminating day on August 30, Grades 1 to 3 pupils will be given a “pabula” or an “alamat”
which they have to interpret using puppets or pantomime. Selected Grade 4 and 5 pupils will recite a “tula” and
“deklamasyon”, respectively, and Grade 6 pupils will deliver a piece through “sabayang pagbigkas”. Finally our
preschoolers will perform cultural dances. Pupils will also get to bring home native snacks that they will surely enjoy.
Parents are invited on that day; you too can enjoy native snacks since there will be concessionaires who will sell kakanins,
sorbetes, kasuy, etc. As to the kids’ attire on that day, they will not be asked to come in FIlipiniana costume but in jeans
and a “It’s more fun in...” or “I love....” or souvenir shirt in any color promoting one tourist spot in our country. A minimal
fee of P150 has to be settled before August 23 to cover Buwan ng Wika celebration expenses; those who have two or
more kids in school only has to pay P125 for the second child.

On top of these, we will also hold a Poster Making contest among all grade school pupils; its theme and rubrics
will be given next week. The school will provide the board but kids have to bring a set of oil pastel which they will use as
their medium. Three winners to be chosen by the MSA pupils and judges will be awarded with certificate and special
prize on the culminating activity.

Lastly, MSA also launches the Newspaper and Plastic Bottle Drive this month as part of the school’s recycling
initiative. This will be in a form of contest among grade levels. The class with the most newspaper and bottles collected
at the end of the month will receive a reward.

Aside from the activities we have this month, we also want to remind parents about the policy which discourages
parents to bring left materials like books, notebooks, homeworks or projects. We want to instil discipline and sense of
responsibility among the pupils thus we strictly implement this policy. It was also observed that more and more parents
are interrupting classes and barging in during breaks. To avoid disruptions, just leave the lunchbox of your child to the
canteen; put his/her name and grade level on it. Our staff will be the ones to hand it to your kid. During dismissal, you
may wait for your child near the gates of the hallways.
