Subtask: Apple colour sorting – Junior Timeline: 5 minute introduction – 5-15
and Senior Kindergarten activity
Expectations Addressed:
30.2: explore a variety of tools, materials, and processes of their own choice to create
drama, dance, music, and visual art forms in familiar and new ways
31.3: explore different elements of design (e.g. colour, line, shape, texture, form) in visual arts
20.5: investigate and describe how objects can be collected, grouped, and organized
according to similarities and differences
The intention of this activity is to introduce - I can sort my colours into red, green
the colours of the apples as red, yellow and yellow into different piles
and green; to have children understand - I can use the glue properly
the colours red, green, and yellow that are
attributed to certain apples, and to have
them sort them into piles in order to paste
them on an apple tree.
Middle: Have a small group of students (3-4) come with you to the table
and have 10 of each colour in front of them. Have them place
them in the designated basket. Once everyone at the table is
done, have them follow you to the area where you have 3 apple
trees. Have students go up one by one and glue one each apple
that they sorted, on the tree.
Wrap-Up: Have students clean up the area, if they dropped any glue, and
have them wash their hands.
