LESSON PLAN IN SCIENCE

I. Objectives
At the end of this lesson, the learners are expected to:
a. Define acceleration;
b. Describe examples of objects moving with constant acceleration; and
c. Identify and utilize the formula for calculating the average acceleration
for an object in given scenarios.

II. Subject Matter

Topic: Acceleration
Time Allotment: 5 hours
References: SCIENCE (Learner’s Material) Page 166-186
Instructional Materials: Laptop, Tv (Power point), Chalk, Pictures

III. Lesson Proper

A. Review
Ask the students about their previous lesson.
What they learn in the previous topic.
Ask the learners if they really understand the past lesson.
B. Motivation
Let the learners stand up and introduce the “Minions dance” by duptek. All
learners must participate the action song.
C. Activity
The teacher will begin by grouping the students into four groups and ask
the students how they can tell if an object is accelerating. The teacher will
give the following scenario:
“Imagine that you are sitting in the back of the bus you cannot out the
windows nor can you hear the engine. How would you know if the bus was
accelerating or going at a constant velocity?”
The teacher will give the students to think and chat with their groupmates
then call on the students to give their ideas in front of their classmates.
D. Abstraction
The teacher will now discuss the meaning of acceleration. Then give
examples of moving objects for the students to understand what acceleration
is. The teacher will now introduce the solving method of acceleration to the
students.
E. Application
Every row must have a representative to solve the problem on the board.
1. What acceleration is needed to accelerate a car from 36m/s to 72m/s in
25s?
2. A car accelerates from rest to a speed of 40km/h in 20 seconds. What is
the acceleration of the car in m/s2?
3. A bus change velocity from 2 km/h to 4 km/h in 1h. What is the acceleration
of the bus?
4. What acceleration is needed to accelerate a car from 36m/s to 72m/s in
25s?
5. A plane has a take off speed of 300m/s. What is the acceleration in m/s2 of
the plane if the plane started from rest and took 45 seconds to take off?
6. What is the acceleration of an object that moves with uniform velocity?
7. A boy on a bicycle increases his velocity from 5 m/s to 20 m/s in 10
seconds.
8. A roller coaster’s velocity at the top of a hill is 10 m/s. Two seconds later it
reaches the bottom of
9. the hill with a velocity of 26 m/s. What was the acceleration of the coaster?
10. A lizard accelerates from 2 m/s to 10 m/s in 4 seconds. What is the
lizard’s average acceleration?

IV. Assessment
On their activity notebook, the learners will answer the given quiz.

V. Assignment
Study in advance about waves.
