There are several regional economic development in Malaysia.

One of it is East Coast


Economic Region (ECER). They spread the implementation of the plan in the region is a
positive move which will fast track the socio-economic development for the states of Kelantan,
Terengganu, Pahang and the district of Mersing, Johor. They can enhance the well-being of
local people through the tourism industry, particularly in segments such as mainland coastal
and island tourism, highland tourism and others. The region has also attracted substantial
investment in upstream oil and gas exploration and production activities. For example,
Terengganu is an established player in the oil and gas industry and has progressed significantly
to become a key investment destination in the ECER. Its economic activities have fast
expanded into other segments such as the tourism sector which comprises coastal, island,
ecotourism, urban, cultural, and agrotourism, as well as manufacturing, bio-economy and
agribusiness.
