1. A stone is dropped from the top of tower. The stone hits the ground after 10 seconds.
Find

2. Define the states of rest and motion.

3. What are the three types of motion. Define each of them with examples.

4. On closing the jaws of Vernier calipers, zero of the Vernier scale is on the left of its main
scale such that 6th division of its Vernier scale coincides with one of the main scale division.
Find the zero error and zero correction.

5. Suppose your age is 16 years. Estimate your age in seconds.

6. Express the following quantities using prefixes

7. What is meant by significant figures of a measurement?

Q.4 (a) What is a Vernier callipers? Explain its construction. Also find out the least count of a Vernier
calliper. (5)

(b) A screw gauge has 200 divisions on its circular scale. The pitch of screw gauge is 0.7mm. Find its
least count.

Q.5 (a) Consider a body moving with initial velocity Vi in a straight line with uniform acceleration a.
Its velocity becomes Vf after time t. Draw a speed versus time graph for the motion of this body.
Then find the total distance travelled S by the body. (5)

(b) A car travelling at 10 ms-1 accelerates uniformly at 2 ms-2. Calculate its velocity after 8s. (5)

Q.6 (a) Figure shows the distance time graph of a moving car. From the graph, find

(a) the distance car has travelled

(b) the speed during the first five seconds

(c)average speed of the car

(b) Your hair grow at the rate of 2 mm per day. Find their growth rate in nms-1. (5)
