Enabling the business value by

strategically rolling out Power BI

7-Week Assessment:
For delivering a Governance Model & Rollout Strategy.
Power BI is continuously evolving, innovating and offering a variety of ways to analyse data
for surfacing previously unknown patterns or trends. However, with its high growth and regular
functionality updates, organisations are facing some challenges when looking to deliver
a single version of the truth that offers genuine assistance in the decision-making process.

Challenges Below you will find an explanation of each phase

Business Area Approach

Ensures the appropriate candidate business areas are selected at each phase of the model and ensure
we prioritise the candidate business area that are best for transitioning to Future State first. By
prioritising which candidate business area to transition to Future State should be based on factors like:

Business Value Personnel Available

Purpose of this is to ensure early returns on tangible benefits for the single area itself, the organisation
as a whole as well as to identify champions for the business area. These champions can be used
throughout the remainder of the rollout to help foster best -practice, share knowledge and enforce
consistent governance at scale.

Ownership Transfer
Overtime, certain self-service solutions deemed as critical to the business may transfer ownership an maintenance
to the PRS BI Team. It’s also possible for business users to adopt a prototype created by PRS BI Team

Early Phases will start with Corporate BI. This is whereby the BI Team govern and control all published
datasets and reports for ensuring the foundation of the most common BI Objectives are laid.
As the individual business area matures and appropriate controls are embedded, it will be safer
to move to a more IT-Led Self-Service approach. In this approach, the BI Team will still have control
over the published datasets and business critical reports with the responsibility of more local reporting
requirements being the responsibility of the business. Once stability is proven within an IT-Led Self
Service, the Business-Led Self-Service can optionally follow for business areas that truly demonstrate
true control and governance.
