Q 1. Calculate the strength of electric field at a distance of 100km due to a power of 100kW
radiated from an antenna of 100 meter effective height, if the wavelength is 5000 m and
absorption effects are negligible.

Q 2. If a transmitting antenna carries a current of 25 A(rms) at a frequency of 0.150 MHz and

produce a field strength of 1.5mV/m at a distance of 25km, estimate the effective height of
the antenna?

Q 3. Given E= [10 cos (106t – βx)] ay at a point in air. Find H and the poynting vector at that
point.

Q 4. A short vertical transmitting antenna erected on the surface of a perfectly conducting earth
produce an rms field strength Eθ = 100sinθ mV/m (θ is the polar angle) at a distance of 1km
from the antenna. Calculate the total power radiated by the antenna.

Q 5. An omnidirectional antenna (isotropic) has a field pattern given by E=101/r (V/m), where I
is terminal current in ampere and r is distance in meters. Calculate the radiation resistance.

Q 6. A transmitting antenna with an effective height of 10 meters has a current, at the base of 50
Amperes. The frequency of operation is 600kHz. Calculate the power radiated.
