Q 1. A loop antenna consists of 10 turns, each having an area of 1m2 . A radio wave having a
frequency of 1MHz induces a sinusoidal e.m.f. of 100 µV (r.m.s.) in this antenna when it is
oriented for maximum response. Calculate the peak value of the magnetic field intensity H
of the radio wave. ( 0  4 107 henry/m)

Q 2. Calculate the voltage induced in a loop antenna of 1m2 of 10 turns, with its plane at 45 off
the line of bearing of a distant station, due to an incident magnetic field of strength of
107 wb / m2 at a wavelength of 1000 m.

Q 3. A loop of 10 turns and area 1m2 lies in a plane making an angle 30 with the direction of
propagation of an incoming signal of frequency 150KHz. What is the field strength of the
signal if the e.m.f. induced in the loop is 1.5mV?

Q 4. A square loop of wire 20cm by 20cm has a voltmeter (of infinite impedance) connected in
series with one side. Determine the voltage indicated by the meter when the loop is placed
in an alternating magnetic field, the maximum intensity of which is 1 amp/meter. The plane
of the loop is perpendicular to the magnetic field and the frequency is 10MHz.

Q 5. Calculate the radiation resistance of a single turn and an eight turn small circular loop when
the radius of the loop is λ/25 and the medium is free space.

Q 6. Calculate the physical area of the loop and compare it with its maximum effective aperture,
if the radius of a small loop of constant current is λ/25.
