Absenteeism among Grade 10 student of Judge Juan Luna High School

The statement of the problem of this research is study aimed to determine the cause of

absenteeism among grade 10 student in Judge Juan Luna High School. The study seeks to answer

the question. What is the extent of absenteeism and the common factor or cause of absenteeism

like physical factor, health, etc. among grade 10 student in Judge Juan Luna High School?

We choose this topic because absenteeism is very alarming for administrator, teacher,

Parents and the society in general graduation student. Absenteeism can affect their academic

performance and theirs possibility that will not graduate. We want to know the possible cause of

their absenteeism to be aware the administration, teachers and parents of the student and to

determine the absences of the students in Grade 10 student.

Attendance in classroom is made compulsory to ensure continuity in the student’s

learning process. When a student is regularly absent from class, it has an adverse effect on their

academic performance. This is because frequent absences may lead to missing out on vital

information, facts and instructions that result in partial understanding of a topic, submission of

incomplete work and poor participation in class activities. Some schools also dictate that students

should appear for exams. Therefor it is of utmost importance that parents ensure that children

attend classes. The regularly absent from class is called absenteeism. Absenteeism in school is

the habit of staying away from school without providing a genuine or any reason for not

attending classes. Absenteeism is a truant behavior that negatively affects the performance

among students.

Our respondents are grade 10 student in Judge Juan Luna High School .Sy.2019-2020 at

77 Judge Juan Luna St, San Francisco del Monte, Quezon City, 1105 Metro Manila to have 50

respondents who have a lot of absent in grade student in Judge Juan Luna High School.
