Any additional comments:

Overall I enjoyed looking and navigating through the lesson. I thought it was fun and

well, especially the animate robot voice which I consider to be an attention getter. It was well put

to together and definitely interactive.

Storyboard Planning 4 4 Storyboard has all the
necessary elements

Organization of 4 3 There was a logical

Content sequence of
information in the
program. Buttons
were functional,
however in the menu
to the left of the
program, the slides
could be named so
that users have an
idea of where they
are in the lesson and
can access any
particular slide from
there.

Originality 4 4 The program showed

a significant evidence
of originality and
inventiveness. I like
the Martian theme
and how the various
elements combined. I
could see evidence of
research

Copyright and 4 3 There was a link

documentation provided with
references for
external content used
however I think they
could have been
better referenced so
we know exactly
which source relates
to which link.
Format and Platform 4 4 The program played
Transferability easily on my Mac.
The platform used
worked well.

Subject Knowledge 4 4 Subject knowledge

was evident
throughout the
program and the
information presented
was clear, appropriate
and correct.
Graphic design 4 3 The graphic elements
worked well together
to match the overall
theme. Images were
of good quality. Text
links that were used
for the buttons could
have been better
incorporated in the
graphics instead of
feeling like they were
disconnected entities.

Mechanics 4 4 No misspellings or
grammatical errors
were identified

4 4 The navigational
tools were constant
throughout the
Screen Design program and I was
able to progress with
ease.

Use of Enhancements 4 3 The intro sound

captured my
attention. It made me
want to explore the
content. I liked how
the narration
sounded. It went very
well with the Martian
theme. Graphics used
for the buttons
showed creativity and
the characters used
went well with the
theme.

Although the videos

used were
informative I was
turned off from not
having control over
knowing the length or
being able to skip
through.

An overall good job

at developing the
multimedia program!

MULTIMEDIA EVALUATION REPORT
I wish there was a way for me to skip through the videos or monitor how far along in the I was.

So, for instance if I leave the video page and return I am not able to continue where I left off. I

have to sit through the entire video not knowing when it will end.

There could be a way for the user to control the audio volume or turn it off it needs be.

There was no real way to measure if the users learned anything from the lesson because they

could skip through the quizzes without even attempting.

Observations

The comments left by my peers gave both positive and negative feedback as the project was

not perfect. Both reviewers thought that the overall project was commendable, well designed and

contained sound content. They also thought that the graphics and design elements were creative

and engaging. They comments reflected on the ease of use of the program, the consistency in

navigational icons, and theme. The overall craftsmanship and credibility of the program was also

noted. On the other hand, there were some area that were flawed in the feedback data. These

include the following:

1. The content is not original but was utilize effectively.

2. The program took longer to load on Explorer.

3. The menu were not named so that users have an idea of where they are in the lesson and

can access any particular slide from there.

4. Better referencing, to connect the source to the object.

5. Text looked disconnected from other entities.

6. No control over video.

7. No way to measure learner’s retention.

Responses

The feedback given on my Multimedia project was insightful and helpful. It will be used

in the enhancement of the program developed and future programs like these. In response to the

feedback, I would like to say firstly that each point was valid and considerate. The content used

in the course (exempt from the videos and audio) were developed by the user. We saw no need to

recreate resources that were currently readily available for our use, while also expediting our

development process. Due credibility was given to the creators, however in-text citations would

have better linked resources to sources. The ability of the program to run efficiently is dependent

on several factors such as consistent internet service, device capabilities and software

programming. I am happy that the program ran successfully on all platforms, although one took

longer than the other. The side menu should have been considered in the development of the

program, however we had tried many authoring tool options which did not display the side menu

in that way, but also did not produce the desired quality of product. This was an oversite on our

part. Along with some other formatting issues encountered, the original design text selected was

not compatible with the authoring tool we imported the content into. Thus, the text format was

changed after our design phase. The embedding of the video also removed some capabilities,

such as video control. I am sure we could have further developed the program to include these,

but we did not know how at the time. Finally, while assessing the learners is an integral part of

any learning event, specific instructions indicated that a proper assessment tool was not required.

Revisions

The following revisions can be made to enhance the program based on the feedback provided by

the peer review:

1. Include in-text citations with every outsourced piece of media to link it to its creator in

the reference list and add copy-right statement on the page containing outsourced items.

2. Include more original content such as demonstration videos or screencasts recording the

solutions to the problems in the program.

3. Name the side menu tabs appropriately to enhance user interface, through easier

navigation.

4. Revise text selection to something more theme appropriate, and attention grabbing,

within the authoring tool platform.

5. Add video controls that allow the user to pause, play, rewind, forward, point and click

video progression, and increase or decrease background music and video audio

(separately).

6. Decrease the size of the media through editing and compressing of program graphics,

video and audio files, so that the program load time would be decreased as much as

possible.
