1.) How does the tempo of composition affect the interpretation of a song? Explain.

The tempo of the composition gives them a song the emotion. It affects the mood of
the music. The faster the music is the positive the emotion such as happiness, excitement,
delight, and liveliness. Slow music temp suggests that music has a negative emotion such
as sadness, depression, and likes.

The power of music affects the listener’s mood. Emotion regulation through music is
considered the most important function of music. In the study of A. Sotos, A.F Caballer
and L. Latorre they concluded that tempo clearly determines whether the music sounds
sad or happy (Fernández-Sotos, A., Fernández-Caballero, A., & Latorre, J. M., 2016).
Expressive and amusing are the work, is gotten from a high tempo whereas the opposite
of relaxing. This means that the tempo modulates the arousal value of the emotions.

The tempo connects the listener to the music. It gives emphasis on the feelings of the
listener that’s why it’s one of the most important ingredients for making music.

2.) What is Catharsis? Why is it an important process in traditional western theater?

Explain.
Catharsis is cleansing of negative emotion and way of thingking from your mind
example is is watching a violent movie, and you experience it in a way of imagination and
because of this it expel it from your mind.

Catharsis is a large feeling of relief or release from negative emotion and somewhat or
often related to movies and books. Watching sad movies makes you also sad because
you are empathizing with the character in the movies. But when the movies ends, and will
often feel a similar sense of relief and after the movie you feel cleansed and happier, that
is catharsis.

So in a nutshell, its relieving of emotion that has been piled up or repressed. This also can
be used in therapy, getting the client to acknowledge and think about traumatic
experiences to free themselves of those feeling by understanding their roots.
