In my perspective, this painting of Fernando Amorsolo depicts its current time. Amorsolo
was known for his painting of landscapes and portraits of known people. The strokes
used for the rice grain represents movement. Because of the brush strokes, it
differentiates the planted grain to the harvested grain. The elements also show the
typical farm set up in the Philippines and show the hard work on rice farming.

I think Amorsolo painted this because in the timeline of painting the Philippines is
considered one of the exporters of rice and he wants to show how farmers produce our
export quality rice. It also shows how the Philippines are rich with its natural view.

The arrangement of the farmers represents the community on a farm, on how farmers
help each other when farming. The farmers also depicts movement that it gives that
gives impression on how hard farming is.

The painting technique used emphasizes the true essence of the painting because it
shows the beauty of our country but it is not that detailed that it gives curiosity on the
critic's mind.
