Most  people  suffering  from  Arthritis  in  their  hands,  like  to  keep  them  warm.  
Fingerless  gloves  are  a  stylish  way  to  do  this,  while  keeping  fingers  free  to  work  –  
and  knit!

Size  
One  size  –  24  cm  long  
 
Materials  
Yarn:  1  ball  Debbie  Bliss  Fine  Donegal  
Needles:  Choose  a  size  to  achieve  gauge.  I  used  3mm.  You  need  a  long  circular  for  
magic  loop  method  or  a  set  of  double  pointed  needles  
Stich  markers:  Makes  keeping  track  of  the  increases  and  decreases  easier.  
 
Gauge    
24x40R  stitches  to  10cm  in  the  round  
 
 
Pattern  
Provisionally  cast  on  48M    
Close  to  round,  place  marker  at  join  
 
Picot  seam  
Rounds  1-­‐5:  K  -­‐  stocking/stockinette  stitch  (right  side  knit,  wrong  side  purl)  in  the  
round  
Round  6:  *K2tog,  YO*,  repeat  
Rounds  7-­‐11:  K  -­‐  stocking/stockinette  stitch  
Round  12:  K  –  at  the  same  time  fold  at  eyelet  row  and  knit  the  provisional  cast  on  
stiches  to  make  a  picot  seam  and  decrease  by  knit2tog  4  times  (every  12  stitches)  =  
40  M

Round  15:  P  (=  2  purl  ridges  on  the  right  side)  
Rounds  16&17:  K  
Round  18:  *K2tog,  YO*,  repeat  
Rounds  19&20:  K  
Round  21:  P  
Round  22:  K  
Round  23:  P  (=  2  purl  ridges  on  the  right  side)  
 
Arm/  Wrist  
Knit  approximately  40R  =  10cm  or  to  desired  length.  
In  the  last  row,  place  marker  either  side  of  the  last  stitch.  
 
Thumb  increases  
It  looks  best  if  you  always  use  left-­‐leaning  increases  on  one  side  and  right-­‐leaning  
increases  on  the  other  side  of  the  thumb.  
Round  1:  knit  to  before  first  marker,  move  marker  –  M1  -­‐  K1  –  M1  move  marker  -­‐  
=42m  
Rounds  2&3:  K  
Round  4:  knit  to  before  first  marker,  move  marker  –  M1  –  K3  –  M1  move  marker  -­‐  
=44m  
Rounds  5-­‐18:  Increase  in  this  way  another  2  times  every  3.  R  and  2  times  every  4.  R  
=  52M  
Round  19-­‐23:  K  

 
Continue  Hand/  Fingers  
Round  24:  knit  to  first  marker,  remove  marker  –  put  13  thumb  stitches  on  a  flexible  
stich  holder  (I  use  a  thread)  –  M1  –  move  marker  and  close  round  =  40M  
Rounds  25-­‐29:  K  
 
Add  eyelet  panel  
Round  30:  P  
Round  31:  K  
Round  32:  P  (=  2  purl  ridges  on  the  right  side)  
Rounds  33&34:  K  
Round  35:  *K2tog,  YO*,  repeat  
Rounds  36&37:  K  
Round  38:  P  
Round  39:  K  
Round  40:  P  (=  2  purl  ridges  on  the  right  side)  
 
Picot  seam  
Rounds  41-­‐44:  K    
Round  45:  *K2tog,  YO*,  repeat  
Rounds  46-­‐49:  K  -­‐  stocking/stockinette  stitch  
Round  50:  sew  off  –  at  same  time  fold  at  eyelet  row  and  pick  up  the  Round  1  
stiches  to  make  a  picot  seam

Thumb  
Round  1:  K  all  stiches  on  stitch  holder  and  pick  up  3M  from  the  new  hand  stitch  =  
16M  
Round  2-­‐5:  K  
Round  6:  P  
Round  7:  K  
Round  8:  P  (=  2  purl  ridges  on  the  right  side)  
Round  9:  cast  off  or  sew  off.  
 
Make  second  glove  alike.  
 
Block  or  at  least  steam  the  gloves.  
Sew  in  ends.
