INTRODUCTION

Many of us have a limited knowledge of the crimes that occur in the world of computers and the
internet, known as “cybercrimes” because they occur in “cyberspace”. These crimes run the
gambit from scams and fraud to stalking and even terrorism. These crimes have the potential for
extraordinary impact on the lives of individuals and on society as a whole. Although many people
fear street crimes involving face to face interactions with violent strangers, they are unaware of
the predatory possibilities of an email solicitation.

Then, to avoid this crime the government has enforced the law by carrying some of the laws which
is cybercrime with several act. In Islam this is important to because to achieve the objective of
Shariah such as protection of religion, protection of life, protection of lineage, protection of intellect
and protection of property. This term can protect us or avoid some cybercrime such as hacked
into our bank accounts, cyberbully that can make us depress or anything and we also can get
knowledge about cybercrime and how to prevent it.
DEFINITION OF CYBER CRIME

Based on book The Global Cybercrime Industry by Dr. Nir Kshetri in, cybercrime also can
be defined as a criminal activity in which computers or computer networks are the principal means
of committing an offense or violating laws, rules or regulations.

While, based on book Cybercrime and Society by Majid Yar, cybercrime also can be
understand as computer mediated activities that are illegal, it is possible to further classify such
crime along a number of different lines. One commonplace approach is to distinguish between
‘computer assisted crimes’ which those crimes that predate the internet but which take on a new
life in cyberspace like fraud, theft, money laundering, hate speech, pornography and ‘computer
focused crime’ which is those crimes that have emerged in tandem with the establishment of the
internet and could not exist apart from it such as hacking, viral attacks, websites defacement.

So, cybercrime is also called as a computer crime which is refers to any crime that involves
a computer and a network. The computer may have been used in the commission of crime or it
may be a target. This cybercrime refers to criminal exploitation of the internet. Such crimes that
may use computer technology to access personal information, business trade secrets and others.
Criminals can also use computers for communication and document or data storage. This criminal
also used of computer to further illegal ends such as fraud, violating privacy, stealing identities
and others. This type of crime have become high profile, particularly those surrounding cracking,
copyright infringement, child pornography and child grooming.
STATISTIC OF CYBERCRIME IN MALAYSIA

From the statistic above we can see that this cybercrime increasing every month and October is
the highest cybercrime occur. Even the cybercrime in November and December is decreasing but
there have some cybercrime increasing such as malicious code, intrusion and vulnerabilities
report. Lastly, the highest cybercrime occurred in Malaysia in 2018 is intrusion attempt and the
overall total cybercrime that occurred in 2018 is 10699.
