BINONDO

Ang Binondo o mas kilala as Chinatown ay makikita sa Distrito ng Maynila. Its influence extends beyond
to the places of Quiapo, Santa Cruz, San Nicolas and Tondo. It is known as the oldest Chinatown in the
world. Ito ay itinayo ng mga Colonial Spaniards noong 1594 para sa mga catholic chinese. Itinayo ito
malapit sa intramuros but across the pasig river for the colonial spaniards for them to keep an close eye
on their migrant subjects. Bago pa man ang spanish colonial period ang binondo ay isang hub na ng mga
chinese commerce. Binondo is the center of commerce and trade of Manila, kung saan lahat ng mga uri
ng negosyo ay pinapatakbo ng mga Filipino-Chinese thrive.

MINOR BASILICA OF SAINT LORENZO RUIZ

Binondo Church, also known as Minor Basilica of Saint Lorenzo Ruiz formerly known as Our Lady of the
Most Holy Rosary Parish. Ang isa sa mga main churches na Makikita sa distrito ng Binondo, Manila and
considered as the center of it. Ito ay katapat ng Plaza San Lorenzo Ruiz. This church was founded by
Dominican priests in 1596 to serve their Chinese converts to Christianity. Yung original building niya ay
nasira noong 1762 ito ay nasira sa paraan ng British bombardment. On 1852 nagtayo ng bagong church
on the same site kaso nga lang nasira ito noong Second world war at ang nakasurvive lang ay ang
western façade and the octagonal belfry. Saint Lorenzo Ruiz was born of a Chinese father and a Filipino
mother, trained in this church and afterwards pumunta siya sa japan for his missionary. Si San Lorenzo
ruiz ay ang pinakunang filipinong santo and was canonized by Pope John Paul II noong 1987. Masses are
held in Filipino, Mandarin Hokkien and English. Sa ngayon ang parish priest and rector sa Minor Basilica
San Lorenzo Ruiz ay is Rev. Fr. Andy O. Lim

PLAZA SAN LORENZO RUIZ

Plaza san Lorenzo ruiz also known as plaza Lorenzo ruiz is a major public square in Binondo, Manila,
bounded by Quintin Paredes street to the east and Juan luna street to the west, parallel to the Estero de
binondo. Ito yung plaza na katapat ng Minor Basilica san Lorenzo ruiz. This plaza has trees and bench
where you can stay. It has the statue of San Lorenzo ruiz the first Filipino saint and it has two obelisk
yung isa ay memorial para sa mga Chinese-filipino victims noong world war ii itinayo noong 1995 by the
confederation of Filipino Chinese veterans and the back part of it or yung isang obelisk is

When you are going to binondo make an itinerary kung anong mga lugar ang iyong pupuntahan and
download google maps para hindi kayo maligaw. Also don't forget to have a enough money kasi
madaming kainan sa binondo if you are a food lover you must bring a lot of money to try the different
food in Binondo. If you have a car you can park it on the Binondo church and start your travel.

Binondo is known for their authentic food or delicacies. Kung mahilig ka sa hopai, tikoy, and mooncake
you should check on Eng Bee Tin shop. Ito ay matatagpuan mo lamang sa kahabaan ng ong pin st. It is
open daily every 6 am til 10 pm. Their hopia starts in 55 pesos they have different flavors, tikoy starts in
100-400 pesos they also have different flavors, premium mooncakes is 100-600 pesos it also have
different flavors. Also try Wai ying fast food makikita mo siya along Benavidez st. Bukas sila araw araw
7am to 2 am you must try the curry beef siomai, asado siopao and dumplings. Approxinate average cost
is 600 pesos for two people.

Binondo is a must because you can feel that you are in china because of the people, surroundings and
the foods. Maganda pumunta dun because there is many Chinese restaurants that you can try it is a
great experience to taste different cuisines and to know why people loved this kind of food. So you must
try it kasi worth it pumunta and you will not know if hindi ka pupunta so tara guys try binondo or also
known as china town.
