Repeat last 4 rows (rows 69-70) one more time (18 stitches), ending with a wrong side row.
Row 73 (decreasing row): Sl1, K1 tbl, (K3tog, K2 tbl) repeat 3 times, P1 (12 stitches).
POM-POM
Move remaining 12 stitches to 2 or 4 double pointed needles and join to work in the round. Cut yarn of the main colour (red)
and join white yarn to work the pom-pom, leaving approx 8 inches tail.
Row 1: Knit.
Row 4: (K1, P1, M1 knitwise) repeat to the end of row (18 stitches).
Row 6: (K1, P1, K1, M1 no matter knitwise or purlwise) repeat to the end of row (24 stitches).
Work last two rows 2 times more and better put down your counting.
Row 13: (P1, K2tog tbl, K1) repeat to the end of row (18 stitches).
Row 15: (P1 K2tog tbl) repeat to the end of row (12 stitches).
Break yarn and thread remaining stitches onto the tail, fasten off and hide the end into the pom-pom. Don’t worry, the pom-
pom won't look squashy when stuffed.
To sew the back seam of the stocking cap, fold it wrong side out and back stitch through the selvedge stitches using a tapestry
needle, or chain stitch through the selvedge stitches with a crochet hook. This should take a couple of minutes. To sew the
white cuff use your white cast on tail.
After that stuff the pom-pom (white yarn left overs work good), fasten it at the root with 8 inches tail of white yarn and hide
the end into the pom-pom, using tapestry needle or crochet hook.
