Question:

Write down the mission statement of any 8 organization and explain with
supporting arguments whether they live up to their mission statement or not?

Answer:

1. Apple
Apple’s mission: is “to bringing the best user experience to its customers through its
innovative hardware, software, and services.”
Analysis: Apple’s mission is to fulfill user satisfactions as by bringing best innovations
in its physical appearance as well as internal system. While looking at this brand anyone
can say that this is the best technology selling organization and commenting personally
on its mission statement, I highly agree that this company is actually working for human
welfare in terms of providing them with the best. It works on hardware innovation but
innovation in terms of software, is comparatively same almost. This company is
producing new phones with very little gaps but not with a great big difference from one
another although their appearance is a modified.

2. Nestle
Nestle mission: Our mission of "Good Food, Good Life" is to provide consumers with
the best tasting, most nutritious choices in a wide range of food and beverage categories
and eating occasions, from morning to night.
Analysis: Nestle is one of the globally recognized brand that deals with many different
products. Nescafé is a brand with in nestle and did not fail to increase the sales as far as
Nescafé coffee got invented. Market of nescafe can be segmented through a number of
factors. Nescafé ice cold coffee was invented especially for the people who live in the
geographical areas where there is likely to be hot climate and in order to face that severe
climatic conditions Nescafé ice cold coffee proved to be very helpful. Furthermore,
Nescafé is likely to focus on the age groups starting from late teens to early thirties.
Nescafé has been likely to segment both male and females through providing them with
variety of coffees that might match up to the tastes of general public. Nescafé has made
its coffee affordable for every kind of income group.
3. Nishat linen
Mission Statement: To provide quality products to customers and explore new markets
to promote/expand sales of the Company through good governance and foster a sound
and dynamic team, so as to achieve optimum prices of products of the Company for
sustainable and equitable growth and prosperity of the Company.

Analysis: A part of Pakistan’s biggest textile miles, nishat has been successful to take
over the hearts of people by offering such good products. It is the most important group
and also the fifth largest group of Pakistan. Nishat group of industries has a command on
4 sectors that are banking, cement, textile and management. This company is engaged in
textile manufacturing like printing, dyeing, weaving, bleaching, spinning and buying and
selling of textiles. This company is satisfying its customers by providing high quality
products. Now Nishat is not just a store but more of it. Their brands reflect a certain
image to the consumers who buy the products to enhance their already groomed
personality. They also focus on gender as they have clothes for both males and females.

4. Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd
Samsung's Mission Statement: Samsung's mission statement is “We will devote our
human resources and technology to create superior products and services, thereby
contributing to a better global society.
Analysis: Yes, Samsung work according to their mission statement. Samsung Electronics
Co. Ltd is a Korean Company that deals in the manufacturing and selling of electronics as
well as computer peripherals. Samsung’s Geographic Segmentation has alienated whole
of the Asian market into geographical regions such as north, south, east and west. It has
made the products according to the desires of different regions and nations.
Demographic Segmentation of Samsung is mainly focused on genders i.e. males and
females. Age does not really matter but its users range from the ages of 10 to 65.
Samsung’s products are launched with unique features to all kinds of people. Samsung
also divides and categorizes their customers on the basis of what phase of life the
customer is in i.e. student, businessman or professions. Taking into view Samsung’s
Psychographic Segmentation, all of the customers are categorized according to levels
which are based on their standards of living and traits Lastly, Samsung’s Behavioral
Segmentation targets the consumer based upon what kind of reimbursement they get
from purchasing items from or being a customer of Samsung Electronics.

Samsung is positioned to exemplify unique technologies, united with glamour and


sleekness to target young generations, adults and professionals. Its premium look gives it
an edge over its competitors. The company has now differentiated itself from a
widespread phenomenon that it is cost effective. It used to deliver cheap products which
had high quality technology but were not as stylish and chic as they are now. Some other
factors regarding the Samsung’s positioning are the

5. Nike
Nike Inc.'s corporate mission: is “to bring inspiration and innovation to every athlete in
the world.”
Nike analysis: Nike is working on best production of its products. The mission statement
is highly acceptable in terms of inspiration of athletes since globally, this brand is
recognized for best quality production goods. Not just the quality, but also it attracts the
customers greatly.
6. DELL
Dell mission statement: is “to be the most successful computer company in the world at
delivering the best customer experience in markets we serve. In doing so, Dell will meet
customer expectations of the Highest quality.
Analysis
No, DELL does not work according to their mission statement. Quality of the products of
DELL is not satisfactory as it is made of plastic and is not reliable. These kinds of
products are mainly for long time use but DELL has made its quality so low that it is no
more a good product as compared to its competitors.
Speed of transferring files is very slow in DELL laptops. It takes long time to make your
files ready even if you are in hurry. The screen display quality and graphics of DELL
products is very low and not satisfactory as compared to the other brands in same price
range. Sound quality is very bad in DELL computers and makes the consumer irritated.

7. Shan foods
Shan foods mission statement:
At Shan Foods, quality is our religion. We strive to set our Quality Operations as a
benchmark for the industry at large. Our mission is to provide our consumers with
supreme standards of product quality, safety and consistency
Analysis:
The spices not only make the food spicy but also take the food cuisine to a new level.
Shan is the best leading spices brand in Pakistan. It is a well renowned company not only
kin pakitan but outside Pakistan. Shan foods have a wide number of products. It offers 70
different types of spices and recipes. Shan food is a progressive organization that
understands their customer needs and wants.. Looking at the product portfolio of Shan
Foods, it is seen that Shan Foods has given is consumers an offering for every occasion
and every type of taste. Be it traditional cuisine mixes like Biryani or an offering in the
Dessert category; Shan has an offering to complement all the good things in life
associated with food. Out of all its categories, the Spice Mix category is the oldest and is
still used synonymous with the name Shan i.e. Shan Foods is still referred to as Shan
Masala by many. This shows how strong the spice association is with Shan Foods. Other
categories like Basmati Rice, Dessert Mixes, Pickles and Salts were introduced later. It is
seen that Shan itself promotes its Spice Mix category most with minimal or no marketing
expenditure on the rest of its categories. Shan advertises its traditional recipe mixes and
spices the most, because it wants to remain top of the mind and top of the heart brand.
Shan Foods is believed to be the leader in the Spice Mix category and it takes utmost
effort to ensure that the leadership crown is not worn by anyone else but only Shan Foods
8. Nokia:
Nokia mission statement:
Nokia Corporation defines its mission to connect people through mobile phone
technology and quotes its mission statement as follows; “Our strategic intent is to build
great mobile products our job is to enable billions of people everywhere to get
connected.”
Analysis:
Nokia has been likely to counter both urban as well as rural areas because it has a huge
variety of handsets starting off with the cell phones with the basic features to cell phones
with a lot of features in it. Furthermore, it targets several age groups but these days’ old
age people are more likely to use Nokia because it's much simple to use such handsets
with limited features. There are a couple of people who have been proving their loyalty to
the brand since the past years. Nokia has been targeting lower income group as well as
upper income group because the price range starts off with 2000-50,000. Nokia has been
one of the brands that has been providing the consumers with quality as well as long
battery hours. Hence, in villages Nokia handsets are more likely to be used because it
allows the villagers to have longer usage without the tension of load shedding.
