Ramesh and Gargi

Situation Analysis
Mr Ramesh Sharma is heading learning and Development at Chrysalis from past 4 years. He
has good relations with Kamla (VP of HR) and CEO Raman Murthy of Chrysalis. Ramesh
values teamwork and thus has imbibe this value in his fellow team mates.
(A)Ramesh feels that he has been side-lined due to a new entrant Gargi who is ex Microsoft
employee and is very open and confident in her work ethics. She was a catch by Kamla
without consulting Ramesh and now she is very close to Kamla as much as Kamla doesn’t
bother Gargi working independently without consulting to Ramesh. Ramesh was also worried
about teammates who are also losing the values due to impact of Gargi on team. He was also
surprised when he didn’t got the updates from Kamla as he was vacationing which never
happened before. In addition to this Ramesh thinks he overheard a conversation between
Gargi,Kamla and Raman which was all about L and D. This all lead to Ramesh answering
couple of head hunters
(B)Kamla got to know about Ramesh move to join other company from her friend.She was
shocked as she used to consider Ramesh a trusted colleague. She felt betrayed. She offered
Gargi in haste the responsibility of L and D which Gargi refused instantly. Kamla marvelled
about the clarity Gargi had at this young age. While Kamla was leaving she got Ramesh
resignation letter. Now Ramesh is going to meet Kamla following day to discuss handing
over the responsibilities.

A) How Ramesh and Kamla should tackle the handing over responsibilities
conversation?

2) Knowing what could have been better
3) Restating open professional relationship
Alternatives
1) The discussion can smoothly carried out without getting deep into problem by Kamla
accepting resignation and Ramesh handing over the responsibilities.
2) Discussion should anchor both of them what made Ramesh took the resignation step.
Solution
We will choose alternative 2 where they are getting deep into each other thought process.
What could have been better . Why Ramesh took this step against his own will . What actions
of Ramesh teammates and Gargi,Kamlas gave space to all this emotions development in
Ramesh head. What Ramesh could have done better instead of thinking all alone.
