Meeting Agenda:

Answer the question that listed in email

1) Emission of SOx and NOx may require additional treatment before discharge to air
Flue Gas Circulating Fluidized Bed (CFB) Process
Ca (OH)2 as the desulfurization agent and NH3 as the denitration agent.
2) What do you plan to do with the tail gas?
generation of steam and electricity through steam turbine.
1) Reaction
C13H14 → 13C +7 H2
C13H14 + 13/2 O2 → 13CO +7 H2
C13H14 +20 O2  13CO2 +14 H2O

Yield of carbon black is 60%

Question: how is the distribution of the side product? Is it logic to have 9.2 % feedstock is
transform to CO2 and another 30.8 % transform to CO?
Reason:

Density

CO 1.14kg/m^3

CO2 1.98 kg/m^3

Volume basis is 100m^3

Volume fraction in tail gas:

CO2- 0.03

CO-0.11

Thus, 3 m^3 of CO2 and 11 m^3 of CO

Therefore, 5.94 kg of CO2 and 12.54 kg CO

Therefore, 0.135 kmol of CO2 and 0.448 kmol of CO

Therefore: 0.23 mol % of CO2 and 0.77 mol % of CO

9.2 % will be CO2, 30.8 % will be CO, 60% will be C

2) Formation of NOx

The formation of NOx is due to combustion of N2 only is it correct?

3) Size of the carbon black

When will carbon black agglomerate? Based on my finding, the cyclone can be used to limit
the agglomeration. So in my point of view, the cyclone will start to separate the carbon black
that already in the size that can be collected.
4) The Preheated air
As I know all the air will be preheated by the gas that come out from the reactor. But if it
shutdown and restart the plant, how the air are going to be heated up.
