RE: Monitoring and Evaluating Meeting
Mr. Edgardo Corbez asked for the summary of the PLC meetings of the different subject
departments headed by the subject coordinators from June to October, 2019.
THAT from June to October, the common problems of the students in the English subject are
reading comprehension, sentence construction, and speaking the English language.
THAT there are multiple interventions done by the English teachers each month. Some of those
are remedial classes for at least 3 times a week from 4:30 to 5:30 pm, implementing English Only
Policy, and Peer Tutoring.
THAT students always have the hard time in understanding and using unfamiliar Filipino words
that mostly used in different literary text.
THAT the interventions done by the Filipino teachers are to let the students make a booklet of
unfamiliar Filipino words, use those words in their ‘Sulating Pangwakas’, and encourage the
students to speak in Filipino fluently throughout the period.
THAT the students’ real problems are understanding word problems, and lacking mastery on the
basic mathematics lessons.
THAT the Mathematics teachers conducted Math remedial classes from 4:30 to 5:30 for at least 3
times a week.
THAT the problems of some students in Science are having a hard time understanding some
concepts and lacking creativity in presenting and explaining different experiments
THAT the Science teachers presented different videos of students explaining and conducting their
experiments creatively, conducted a science fair where students can freely do experiments,
display them in the Science exhibit and explain to others about their work.

Minutes of the Meeting
THAT the common problem of the students is really comprehending the lesson and the text they
are reading. These problems seem to be very common to the students.
THAT in order to act on it, they joined forces to the English teachers to train the students in terms
of reading, viewing and listening comprehension.
THAT these problems, based from the latest PLC report from the subject coordinators are aided, if
not all, by the concern subject teachers.
THAT the next meeting will be about their assessment of their students’ performance after the
interventions that the teachers have done.
