In-Between

As we drive, we feel so free.

But what the future will bring us, we have yet to see.

Its nerve wrecking really,

because this stage in our lives...we are all so "in-between".

One’s 20, in nursing school, in a three-year relationship ever-so happily;

Though marriage and kids seem so far away, and it's overwhelming to see when will the right
time come for the beginning of a family.

Another ones 20 too, and can't seem to understand

that leaving college and coming back to his beloved hometown won't make him less of a man.

And then there's the 19-year-old, who seems so carefree and laid back;

Yet she silently wishes for timing to finally be on her side, fearful that loving and being loved
is what she will forever lack.

We are all scared, so stuck, so terrifically anxious of what is to come;

So, we keep driving backroads through the night, knowing that eventually this moment will
remind our souls that they were once green and young.
