MODEL BDA-4
BIDIRECTIONAL LINE AMPLIFIER
The Minecom Bidireconal Line Amplifier (BDA-4) is part of PBE’s
Minecom Leaky Feeder System which provides a reliable and simple
to use underground communicaons system.

The Minecom GEN-4 Bidireconal Line Amplifier (BDA-4):

• provides remote and local diagnoscs to indicate the current state

of the amplifier for ease of maintenance

• supports voice and data transmission, incorporates bidireconal

amplifiers, and a third auxiliary band
FEATURES • is powered from the Leaky Feeder line connected via saddle and
clamp connecons
• Local and oponal Remote diagnoscs
• has independent Automac Gain Control (AGC) circuits to
• Downlink Auxiliary Band (UHF amplifiers only)
overcome signal level changes and variaon in system losses
• AutoGain with manual override
• is housed in a minimum IP55 rated heavy duty enclosure
• VHF and UHF versions
• incorporates SAW filter design to increases bandwidth and provide
• IP55/NEMA4X rated enclosure superior RF performance

• High Noise Immunity • offers high speed data transmission, high level of intermod
immunity, and excellent noise rejecon
• Ground loop detecon
• has three Mul-Pla5orm Communicaons Adapters (MPCA)
• Three Mul-Pla5orm Communicaons allowing funconality expansion using PBE modules
Adapter (MPCA) slots
• has Wireless Interconnecvity (UHF/VHF, 900 MHz and Bluetooth)
• has Wired Interconnecvity (RS232, Modbus, PBE proprietary 4800
BAUD system and Mul-Mode Fibre Opc).

MODEL BDA-4
BIDIRECTIONAL LINE AMPLIFIER
AutoGain: The leaky feeder communicaons system performs opmally when each amplifier in the system is adjusted to
minimise degradaon of signal to noise rao. The BDA-4 has provision for that adjustment to be made either manually or
automacally and this can be accomplished locally at the device or remotely from the surface (soFware required). AutoGain
technology reduces the end-user burden of tuning the system by leHng the BDA-4 adjust itself. For details about AutoGain
requirements and opons see the related Manual.

Auxiliary Band: The BDA-4 amplifier’s third amplified band can be used for paging, radio, evacuaon systems, etc.

OPERATION
The BDA-4 operates autonomously aFer installaon. Performance is reported locally on the unit. Oponal remote diagnoscs is
available with PBE's MineBoss ™ soFware. For more details see the BDA-4 manual (004-0348-001) or Leaky Feeder Manual.
