Tracking the Indian Premier League 2009...........

BEST MOMENT
A dam Gilchrist chose the perfect moment to remind the
world just how destructive he can be. Yes, he had scored
consistently for the Deccan Chargers throughout the
tournament, and yes it had been quick. But it was nothing
as devastating as the attack he launched on the Delhi
Daredevils in the first semi-final at Centurion. The
manner in which Gilchrist approached the innings resulted
in the Daredevils competitive total of 154 being chased
down with 14 balls to spare. He made the semi-final his
own with scary bat-speed and powerful wrists. It was a
blitzkrieg that left the Delhi bowlers bewildered and
it's an innings that will be remembered for some time
around the world. His 85 runs came off just 35 balls and
included 10 fours and five sixes.

DREAM IPL XI
When considering opening batsmen there can only be two. Retiredleft-
handers Adam Gilchrist and Matthew Hayden were sublime throughout the
tournament and would do any side proud.
South Africa's AB de Villiers was the mainstay of the Delhi Daredevils line-up and also ended
second-highest run-scorer behind Hayden.
JP Duminy picks himself at number four while Suresh Raina
scored 434 runs for the Chennai Super Kings and can also do
a job with the ball.

Yuraj singh is another player who offers something with both bat and ball - his two hat-
tricks are testament to his ability as a bowler.

Although Jacques Kallis should get a look-in, my pick for the all-rounder is Irfan Pathan
who averaged 20 with the bat and 24 with the ball.

Good spinners were like gold dust in this year's edition and here Anil Kumble and Muttiah

Muralitharan get my vote ahead of the likes of Shane Warne and Harbhajan Singh. Kumble also
won nine of the seven matches in which he was in charge of for the Royal Challengers Bangalore so
he gets the captaincy position as well. Lasith Malinga's ability to bowl full, quick and straight

makes him a shoe-in along with RP Singh, who was the leading wicket-taker and offers variety as a
left-armer.

looking to reclaim his place in the indian one-day team after his
