Good morning. I am sending this e-mail to Steven Malk since that was the only e-mail
information on Jillian Tamaki's website. It would be great if you could pass on the information in
the e-mail to her:
Thank you for the lovely illustrations in the New York Times piece about horse racing (I think it
should be banned since the well being of horses can not be guaranteed)

It would be wonderful in the future if you didn't contribute with your beautiful talent to pieces
like these who favor fox hunting and wasp killing.

Paragraph 5, line 4: "I've ridden Thoroughbreds out fox hunting who've been around so long
their lip tattoos are too blurry to read"

Paragraph 1, line 8: "I still wonder at the things he made me do-killing wasps two stories up on
an extension ladder, scrubbing up with gasoline"

I already contacted Sally Eckhoff, the author of the piece to ask her to be kinder to foxes by not
going fox hunting and to learn about humane ways to remove wasps without killing them. I sent
her the same information I am sending you now and I am waiting for her reply.

Killing wasps has dire consequences on nature, they help maintain the ecological balance by
killing mosquitoes, fruit flies, and other pests and they also play an important role in pollinating
flowers.

Wasps are the pinnacle of animal architects. A type of wasp in South America builds such
resilient structures that ground nests from the 1700s are still intact today.

I am looking forward to seeing more of your wonderful work being put to good use.
