Non-stop learning for QRP Team:
Emergency First Aid w/ Mass
Casualty Incident Training held
In partnership with the Philippine National Red Cross (PNRC)
Iloilo Chapter, PCPC sponsored the Emergency First Aid Training
(EFAT) with Mass Casualty Incident to further equip the
established Quick Response Program (QRP) Team.
The said training, held on August 24-25, 2019, was part of the
celebration of PCPC’s 3rd year anniversary of commercial operations.
“The regular meetings and trainings we conduct for the members serve as
refresher courses, to acquaint them with additional skills and teach them
modern methods to adapt to future emergency situations,” Mr. Dan Baliao,
Community Relations Assistant, also the QRP lead, said.
Currently, there are 32 QRP Members. The team is composed of
workers of the power plant, LGU officials of the barangay, and
residents, many of whom volunteered when the QRP was first
established in 2015. QRP was formerly called the Disaster Emergency
Response Program (DERP), but to increase the flexibility of the
team in responding to various situations, it was renamed.

The EFAT with Mass Casualty Incident aims to empower the

volunteers in managing serious medical and trauma emergencies.
They were taught to identify and manage time-critical
injuries such as CPR and patient-handling. Trainors from
PNRC provided hands-on experience with live actors, casualty
simulation and short highly focused lectures to make the
2-day training effective.

With almost 100-strong volunteers, PCPC once again
proved that with collaboration and teamwork, everything
is possible, during the International Coastal Clean-Up
(ICC) Celebration on September 21, 2019.
PCPC workers, LGU officials of the barangay and
the municipality, CENRO-Sara representatives, and
teachers and students of Nipa Elementary School
spared their time on a weekend, to be part of the
occasion which was held at the coastal area
in Barangay Nipa, Concepcion, Iloilo.
With plastics, ropes, nets and rubbers comprising the
majority, around 460 kilos of garbages were collected.
The ICC was organized under the company’s Coastal
Clean-up Program, Project Baybay.

ICC is held every third Sunday of September of

each year according to the Presidential Proclamation
No. 470.
ICC is the largest volunteer effort for ocean’s health.
