Learning aims:

During this lesson, learners will be able to…


- To consolidate vocabulary about The Family from previous
classes
- Develop listening and speaking skills: singing Hello/ Baby
shark/ bye-bye songs and through the poem
- Develop interpersonal skills, sharing materials to do the
activities
- Develop their creativity drawing their families

Learning focus:
This activities will focus on:
- Revision of vacabulary of the family
- Who’s he? Who’s she?
- Imagination and fine motor by painting

Integration of skills:

They will develop their:


- Speaking and listening skills by singing the songs, repeating
the Family poem and talking about their families
- Kinesthetic and gross motor skills by imitating the different
movements used in the song
- Creative skills
- Interpersonal skills by sharing material and dancing all
together

-Linguistic intelligence (talking about family members)

Lesson stages:

Routine
I will sing the “Hello song” and encourage children to sing with me as
part of their routine.
Lead-in

Purpose:
-To develop Linguistic skills

Timing: 5 minutes

Activity description and instructions as they will be said to


students (include direct speech):

- Tell children “sit down here” (I will sit down on a chair) so


they can see family members puppets. Then I will say “look at
my family, he is my dad, she is my mum…”

Presentation
Purpose:
- To introduce different sorts of families

Timing: 10 minutes

Activity description and instructions as they will be said to


students (include direct speech):
- Tell them there are different kinds of families (showing
flashcards)
- Asking them about their families: (showing family puppets)
Have you got a sister? (ponting to the sister puppet) Have you
got a brother? Elicit answers (yes, I have/No, I haven’t/my
sister is…/my brother is…)

“Very good! Your family is great!” “Now, let’s listen to a Poem about
families”

Activity 1: Family Poem

Purpose:
- Develop Listening skills
Timing: 5 minutes
Activity description and instructions as they will be said to
students (include direct speech):
“Ok, I will read a nice poem for you, it is about my family, listen please”
(I will start to read, showing a flashcard for each phrase and I will
encourage them to repeat the poem, emphasizing making emphasis in
the words: father/mother/sister/brother/grandpa/grandma twice. and
I will get the children to repeat too)

“Well done! Very good!” My family is little but we are very happy “Now,
stand up and go to the television place” “I will show you my sister’s
favourite song, Would you like to listen and dance with me?”

Activity 2: Baby shark song

Purpose:
- To develop listening and speaking skills, to consolidate
vocabulary about family.

Timing: 10 minutes
Activity description and instructions as they will be said to
students (include direct speech):
“Come here and sit down please, we are going to watch a video and
listening to the Baby shark song, it is my sister’s favourite song, please
pay attention to thede movements because we are going to imitate them
later”.
After seeing the video, I will say “ok, stand up and let’s dance and sing
the Baby shark song” (I will stand up and show the students the
movements we are going to imitate)
Finally, we are going to danceing and singing all together.

Purpose:
- Consolidate the vocabulary of family members

Timing: 10 minutes

“Look at it, it is a photo of my family and now I want you draw
and paint your family. I will give you a sheet of paper with
some crayons and pencils so you can draw for me” “Then, you
will tell me, who are they are, ok? For example, He is my
brother or she is my mum…”

“Well done! Your family photo is wonderful” “Now, is time to
finish the class, please stand up and come here to sing the
bye-bye song”

Closure

Purpose:
- Say goodbye
- Model the goodbye song
