Notes -- Comparing Ratios Name: _________________________

We can use equivalent ratios to solve real-world problems, like making predictions or comparing

prices (or other rates). In order to tell if two ratios are equivalent or to find equivalent ratios, we need to

be able to compare ratios to see if they are equivalent.

Example Problem:

A granola recipe calls for 4 cups of chopped nuts and 6 cups of dried fruit. Tonya decides to use

6 cups of chopped nuts and 9 cups of dried fruit to make a bigger serving of granola. Did Tonya

use the correct ratio based on the recipe?
