 FUTURE LEARNING GOALS

 MY FUTURE LEARNING GOALS IS TO

STUDY HARD AND ALWAYS STUDY YOUR
LESSON EVERYDAY. IF YOU WANT TO
ACHIEVE YOUR LEARNINGS, ALWAYS
AWARE YOUR SKILLS HOW TO SOLVE
YOUR SOLUTION FOR YOUR
ACHIEVEMENTS. ALWAYS REMEMBER
YOUR STUDIES AND DON’T FORGET
TO ACHIEVE YOUR LEARNING GOALS.
 EVIDENCE OF COMPETENCE(LQ,UT)
(Long Quiz)
(Unit Test)
 SUMMARY(2 EXAMPLES)
a)LINEAR EQUATION-the highest-degree is 1.
b)QUADRATIC EQUATION-the highest degree is 2.

Examples:
A.)x(x+8)=20 B) 𝑥 2 =900
2x=32 𝑥 2 − 4𝑥 + 2 = 0

b) Solving Quadratic by Extracting Square Roots

Example:

A) 𝑥 2 =900 B) 𝑥 2 =49
√𝑥 2 =±√900 √𝑥 2 =±√49
x=±30 or 𝑥=±7 or
x=+30 and x=-30 𝑥 = +7 and x=-7

 The general form of quadratic equation 𝑎𝑥 2 +

𝑏𝑥 + 𝑐 = 0 where 𝑏 is equal to 0 can take the form
𝑎𝑥 2 = 𝑐. Simplify 𝑎𝑥 2 = 𝑐 until it is reduced to the
form 𝑥 2 = 𝑐. Determine its two possible roots, 𝑥 =
√𝑐 and 𝑥 = −√𝑐, where 𝑐 is a nonnegative real
number.
 Simplify the roots if necessary and check them
for accuracy.

c) Standard Form of Quadratic Equation

-𝑎𝑥 2 + 𝑏𝑥 + 𝑐 =, where 𝑎, 𝑏 and 𝑐 are real numbers
and 𝑎 ≠ 0.
Examples:
A) 2𝑥 2 − 2𝑥 = 2
2𝑥 2 − 2𝑥 − 2 = 0
𝑎 = 2, 𝑏 = −2, 𝑐 = −2.

B) 5𝑥 2 = 5𝑥 − 7
5𝑥 2 − 5𝑥 + 7 = 0
𝑎 = 5, 𝑏 = −5, 𝑐 = 7.

d) Solving Quadratic Equation by Extracting the

Square Roots;

 2 steps:
1) Use the properly of equality to reduce the
equation in the form,
𝑐
𝑥 2 = , and
𝑎

2) Find the square roots of both sides of

the equations.

Roots/Solution of Quadratic Equation

1) 𝑐 > 𝑜, there are exactly two real numbers solution
/ roots to the quadratic equation.
2) 𝑐 = 0, then the only real number solution is 0.
3) 𝑐 < 0, Then the solution are not real numbers but
imaginary.(𝑖)

Examples:
3𝑥 2 27
1) =
3 3
2
𝑥 =9
𝑥 2 = ±3 or 𝑥 = 3, 𝑥 = −3.
2𝑥 2 0
2) = .
2 2
√𝑥 2
= √0
𝑥=𝑜

e) Solving Quadratic Equation by Factoring

Examples:
a)𝑥 2 − 6𝑥 + 8 = 0
𝑥𝑥 (−4)(−2) =−6
(𝑥 − 4) (𝑥 − 2)
𝑥−4=0 𝑥−2=0
𝑥=4 𝑥=2

f)Solving Quadratic Equation by Completing the

Square
Examples:
1. 𝑥 2 − 4𝑥 − 4 = 0
𝑥 2 − 4𝑥 + =4
√(𝑥 − 2)2 = √6
𝑥 − 2 = ±√6
𝑥 = 2 ± √6 or
𝑥 = 2 + √6 𝑜𝑟 𝑥 = 2 − √6

g) Solving Q. E. by Using Quadratic Formula

Examples:
1) 𝑥 2 − 3𝑥 = 10 𝑥=
−𝑏±√𝑏2 −4𝑎𝑐
2𝑎
𝑥=
3+7
2
𝑥=
3−7

(−3)±√(−3)2 −4(1)(−10) 10 −4
𝑥 2 − 3𝑥 − 10 = 0 𝑥= 𝑥= 𝑥=
2(1) 2 2

3±√9+40 2
𝑎 = 1, 𝑏 = −3, 𝑐 = −20 𝑥 = 𝑥= 𝑥 = −2

g) Nature of Roots
 The solution set of quadratic equation contains
all the roots of the equation.
 The roots of a quadratic equation can be rational,
irrational, real, or imaginary numbers.
 The discriminant of a quadratic equation is used
in determining the nature of the roots of a
quadratic equation.
 REFLECTION;

MY REFLECTION IS, OUR EVERY LESSON

IN MATHEMATICS IS VERY EASY TO
LOOK BUT IT’S VERY DIFFICULT TO
SOLVE BUT LITERALLY I RECOGNIZED
THAT MATHEMATICS IS VERY USEFUL
IN OUR LIFE BECAUSE WE CAN SOLVE
OUR PROBLEM IN OUR LIFE WITHOUT
MATH WE CAN’T SOLVE OUR PROBLEM.
SO WE CAN EARN IT BY OUR OWN SELF
SO IT’S VERY IMPORTANT THAT WE
HAVE A MATHEMATICS IN OUR LIFE.
