Holidays with Kate’s Club

ATLANTA (Oct. 8, 2019) — Kate’s Club, a nonprofit dedicated to helping grieving children and
families, is hosting an event at Piedmont Park and inviting its members to help build a float that
will be featured in this year’s Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade.

Kate’s Club is making its first-ever appearance at the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade in New
York City on Nov. 28, a function that over 20 million people tuned in to see last year. In prepara-
tion for the parade, Kate’s Club will hold a float build and Thanksgiving-themed potluck on Nov.
21 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Piedmont Park for club members and their families.

Members will bring their favorite Thanksgiving side dishes for a big dinner after building the
float, and Honeybaked Ham, a sponsor, will provide the main course. Founder Kate Atwood and
children and families will be available throughout the day for exclusive interviews.

“This organization has helped me through the darkest of times and given me the absolute
brightest of times,” said Atwood. “I am so unbelievably proud of the work that we have done
here, but we aren't done until everyone who is in need of someone is reached. We serve nearly
2,000 people now, and I believe that the exposure from this parade will amplify the amount of
families we are able to connect with.”

Nov. 21 is National Children’s Grief Awareness Day, a day near and dear to the members of
Kate’s Club. Aside from its weekly events, Kate’s Club also hosts several events throughout the
year, including their annual Memory Walk, The Spirit of Kate’s Club Gala and #BlueNovember.
More information on the organization can be found at www.katesclub.org.

The Macy’s float will feature 22 Kate’s Club members, including child actor Lonnie Chavis and
Atwood.

“It’s events like these that make me love Kate’s Club,” said Lonnie. “Being connected to other
people in my community who have gone through similar experiences, but are so different, is
what brings us all back every time. On top of raising awareness for the organization, getting to
be on the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade is just super cool.”
